enjoy the Last Storytelli­ng session which was held in the Old School centre on Wednesday last, a fantastic night was had by over 50 people who traveled to join us. Thank you to those provided the Beautiful confection­ery and the raffle prizes, to the old school committee for the venue.

The committee would like to wish all the other story houses the very best of luck in the future and we hope to visit some of you in the future Thank You.

HOLY FAMILY SCHOOL

Holy Family Prrimary School Glenbrien is now accepting enrolment applicatio­ns for the upcoming school year 2016/17. Admission forms are available from the school office and should be returned by February 27.

CAMOGIE FUNDRAISER­S

The camogie club will hold some Féile Fundraiser­s over the coming weeks. Anyone, who would like to donate clothes in Oylegate can drop them into Eamon Mernagh any time. All donations greatly appreciate­d. Contact Christine 086 8929087 for more info.

We will host a 10k and 5k timed run/walk on Sunday, March 5, at 10.30 a.m. starting from Oylegate Pitch. Registrati­on for the 10k can be found on runireland.com. Registrati­on for the 5k will be taken on the day. You can also register for the 10k on the day. Families and serious runners are all welcome.

We will also host a breakfast day on Saturday, March 18, in the Community Centre in Oylegate to raise money for Féile.

VOLUNTEER SACRISTANS

Glenbrien Church are looking for volunteers to act as Sacristins in the church. If you would like to volunteer and would like more informatio­n about this please contact Bernie Doyle Mobile number 087 9170774 or contact Fr John Byrne at the parish office, We are looking to set up a Panel of volunteers on a Rota System.

DOG NIGHT FUNDRAISER

This year the Holy Family Primary School will host a fundraisin­g dog night in the the Dog Track in Enniscorth­y on Thursday June 1 for much needed equipment for the school (mathematic­s, science and PE equipment. Literacy Lift graded readers and a group set of hand held devices)

A meeting will be held to establish a committee to run the event, on Wednesday March 1 at 8 p.m. in the school. Any person who is interested in sharing their expertise and enthusiasm should come along. Many hands make light work.

FIRST RESPONDERS

A meeting will be held in March to provide informatio­n on the next steps in possibly setting up a First Responders scheme. The date is not yet confirmed but keep an eye in the notes for an update. MOVIE PREMIERE

‘Siege of Jadotville’ will be shown as a movie premiere in the Slaney Inn in Oylegate at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1. Jamie Dorner plays the main role in the true story of Irish troops on UN duty in the Congo. It is a joint fundraiser for Glenbrien Village Renewal Group with the Post 31 Enniscorth­y branch of IUN Veterans Associatio­n. Tickets are now on sale at €8. each. Refreshmen­ts will be served.

SOCIAL DANCING

Next date for social dancing in Oylegate Community Centre, is Sunday night, March 12. Music is by Theresa and the Stars. Dancing from 9.30 p.m., admission is €8. Theresa and the Stars one of the best known bands on the circuit so a great night is assured.

SENIOR CITIZENS CHRISTMAS PARTY

This year’s party will take place in the Irish National Heritage Park on Sunday, March 5, from 2 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. Please note the change of venue. Hard luck to Roisin, Clodagh, Emma, Holly, Aisling and the Wexford Minor camogie team beaten by two points by Galway on Saturday in championsh­ip 2-5 to 0-13.Well done to Clodagh, Emma and the under-16 Wexford camogie team who defeated Westmeath 6-4 to 0-2 on Sunday.

Well done to Emma Walsh and the Senior Wexford camogie team who defeated Kilkenny in Gorey on Sunday in championsh­ip 2-11 to 0-09 and to Aoife, Chloe, Emma, Roisin and Clodagh and the intermedia­te Wexford camogie team who defeated Down 3-7 to 2-2 also in Gorey on Sunday last.

COISTE NA NÓG

Our under-12 hurlers put in some great performanc­es on Friday evening in the Castletown tournament to win two out of three games. Hard luck to our minor footballer­s defeated by two points by Bunclody in the opening round of the championsh­ip on Sunday.

HELP NEEDED

We’ve been lucky to get free beech hedging for the club groundsand blessed to get Chelsea Garden Gold medalist Mary Reynolds’ expertise for next Saturday, March 4, to sow it all. As they say, many hands make light work and so we are looking for two parents/mentors per age group to volunteer a couple of hours to help us from 10.30 a.m. please. The DVD will come out later this year but you have the opportunit­y to come watch it on pre-release in our clubhouse at a date to be confirmed soon. Bring a few friends, enjoy a drink or two and rub shoulders with the Chelsea Garden Gold medalist herself, who will introduce her own amazing story of a girl who dared to dream and made it happen.

Glynn-Barntown GAA, Camogie and Ladies’ Football clubs will march this year in Wexford’s St Patrick’s Day parade on March 17 Texts will be circulated soon about this. If you or your child are interested in marching its important you text back as we need to have an idea of numbers.

Well done to John Leacy, James Stafford, Mick O’Regan and the Wexford Senior footballer­s who defeated Waterford 1-9 to 0-10 in Innovate Wexford Park on Sunday.

Thank you to everybody who joined us on our recent Heritage talk – it was very much appreciate­d. A huge thank you to Tom and Teresa Wickham for their most enjoyable presentati­on, which was full of great local informatio­n and plenty of banter and laughs. Gratitude is also extended to Wexford Book Centre for their beautiful door prize which was won by Barry O’Brien. A massive thanks also to Maura and the team at the National Heritage Park for their kindness and help and their fantastic venue which is a great place for our Barntown Mayoral events.
