CORACH NEWS

A-team were away to our neighbours St Leonards, we started well today were well on top for the first 15 minutes or so without creating any good chances, on 20 minutes we gave away a free 25 yards out which Darren tipped over the crossbar. Five minutes later a good ball up the line from Adam found mark but his first touch was a bit heavy and the chance was gone.

Just after the half hour Barry brought a good save out of the keeper with a shot from the edge of the box and it stayed scoreless till the break. We came out in the second half with that same intensity as the first half and on 53 minutes we got the breakthrough when following a good move MJ was taken down on the edge of the left hand side of the box and from the resulting free Aaron found Gareth and he sent a rasping 20 yard shot to the back of the net for a deserving 1-0 lead.

The Leonards attack were trying to hit us on the counter but we were coping well with it and were unfortunate not to add to our score following some promising attacks of our own. On 78 we got our second when Richie sent in a corner that was left by MJ at the near post and slotted home by Gareth for his second also. We saw out the rest of the game fairly comfortably and got a vital three points in our promotion push. Excellent performance today from all the lads.

Congratulations to Phillie Daly, Coolhull, who picks up this week’s Corach Ramblers splitthe-pot worth a brilliant €710. The winning ticket was drawn by Mossie Doyle. Thanks a million to everyone for your continued support...
