ALL BLACKS

Congratulations to All Blacks AFC under-13s players Tadhg McDonald, Evan Cullen, Dan Devereux and Tadhg Deegan and Kyle Rankin, who were selected for Wexfords Interleague Game v NDSL on Sunday last in Curracloe.

The under-12 girls made the journey to Bunclody for a cup quarterfinal game only to meet a strong home side. Having conceded three quick goals early on in the game it was always going to be an uphill struggle. However, our girls did continue to battle for the rest of the match and played a much more competitive second half during which Aoibheann Rankin scored our only goal of the game. The girls were very unlucky not to convert another couple of chances but it was not to be. Well played to Aoife D, Eve, Aoife C, Tara, Sophie, Cora, Ciara, Aoibheann and Abby, who worked hard up till the final whistle. We wish Bunclody all the best in the next round.

FAREWELL PODGE

The parish of Ballymore/Mayglass and St Fintan’s GAA Club said goodbye to a family that supported all that was good in the parish and the GAA club. Some 20 years ago Pat and Bernie Doyle took the helm at Ye Olde Coopers Inn and in the blink of an eye the Doyle family became one of our very own.

Over the past decade Pádraig has been one in a million as they say, he has wore the number eight jersey with pride, passion and determination and is forever engraved in our clubs historic back to back county titles of 2012 and 2013. He has supported our club unreservedly throughout the years, be it team jerseys, fundraising events, post match meals, breakfast mornings, committee meetings; the word ‘No’ simply has not been part of his vocabulary.

Pádraig was always our first port of call and we were never disappointed but much more than his endless support to the men’s club, the Ladies’ Club and our Coiste teams Podges easy going, charming, affable character is what we will miss so very much. Podge, we wish you, Anne-marie, Pat, Bernie and the Doyle family the very best in whatever the future holds for you all. We will miss you dearly. And remember the green jersey will always be here for you.
