TRAFFIC disruption is rife all over Wexford town as three utility companies lay services.

Senior engineer Noel O’Driscoll said that ‘ there are a number of utility providers working within the Wexford district. Weekly meetings are currently being held with the companies to liaise and coordinate works and address any matters that arise.’

In relation to the gas works being carried out works on Mary Street and Lower John Street have been completed and the roads have been reopened. The Cornmarket and Bullring area is due to reopen on Friday, March 31.

In April it is expected to complete works in the Johns Gate Street to Customs House Quay areas and in the Mill Road to Parnell Street to Williams Street to Maudlintown area.

He said that permanent reinstatement works are also currently under way.

Works are currently being carried out in the Richmond and Maudlintown areas on the provision of broadband while works in Clonard have been substantially completed. Virgin Media works are expected to start at the end of March. These works involve the installation of fibre ducting in footpaths throughout the town. These will be subdivided into 40 sections with the first lot of works to take place to supply the main control kiosk at the junction of Wexford Park and Summerhill. The second lot of works will be in the areas of Corish Park/Liam Mellows/Clonard Avenue/ Ard Carman and Avondale Drive.

After this works will take place in the areas of Clonard Road/Beechlawn, The Grove/Bloomfield/Heatherfield/Ashfield Drive areas.
