Peter Winters previously of Castle View, Mulrankin, Bridgetown but ‘technically homeless’ as his solicitor told Judge John Brennan, was fined on conviction for a public order offence.

Solicitor Tim Cummings accepted that his client had made no substantial enquiries as to where the Land Rover had come from.

Mr Cummings agreed that Hammond had been reckless in the matter.

The court was also told that the defendant knew the owner of the vehicle.

Judge John Brennan noted that the accused had no record of previous offences of this sort before deciding to allow him the benefit of the Probation Act.
