-

THE family-run window tinting business Coatek was recently announced as the winner of the 2017 AIB North Wexford business award for small businesses.

The announcement was made at a recent Gorey Chamber function in The Amber Springs Hotel, Gorey.

The awards are sponsored by AIB Gorey and are aimed at the business community in North Wexford. The nomination process and selection procedure are in the hands of registered businesses in the area.

The small business award covers a range of sectors, and the only stipulations are that the business is based in North Wexford and employs no more than 10 full-time people or the equivalent.

This year’s nominees included: Bailey’s Toymaster; Coatek; Helena’s Florist; Luca; Place; South East Financial; and Tara Stores.

Based in Gorey Business Park, Coatek and A Tint are run by Hugh and Martina Kenny. They employ seven people and specialise in designing and installing quality window and film products across the country.

Accepting the award, Martina Kenny said that they were honoured. ‘It is a wonderful achievement to be recognised by the business community here in North Wexford,’ she said.

‘ These awards are an important recognition of the work within our business sector,’ commented Keith Groarke, manager of AIB Gorey. ‘ The interesting mixture of nominees covering retail, services and manufacturing clearly shows us the strength of business in North Wexford and explains how we continue to flourish.’

Martina was presented with a piece created by local designer and weaver Gráinne Kenny which was sourced through Market House Design, while the nominees each received a framed certificate sponsored by The Gaslamp Gallery on Esmonde Street.
