TEXT ALERT
The annual general meeting of the Crossabeg Text Alert service took place at Kyle Forge on Monday, March 20.
Thanks were extended to all who attended, especially to Margaret Quinn, Development Officer, Muintir na Tire.
CHAIR.
John Meagher in his report stated that the year gone by was very successful, as evidenced by the number of text alerts, all playing their part and helping to reduce criminal activity. He said he hoped that we can keep it that way in Crossabeg.
Treasurer Tom Bermingham stated that the finances were healthy and no further membership fees will be necessary for a few years. For an initial outlay of €20, this is great value.
Margaret Quinn spoke of the need for more awareness by everyone, particularly in regard to the elderly and most vulnerable in our neighbourhood, and to take steps to avoid situations developing. It was agreed that a better communication system was developing between the Gardaí and Text Alert groups generally.
The chairperson and the committee of Crossabeg Text Alert all agreed to stay in place for the coming year. They also stated that they would like to see more people availing of the Government granted scheme for safety and security in the home, and highly recommend it.
For those out there seeking to become members of Crossabeg Text Alert or need further information on the system, please call 086 8904715.
