COMMUNITY CENTRE

The Bree Community Centre AGM will be held on Monday next, April 3, at 8.30 p.m. All organisati­ons are requested to have two representa­tives present at this AGM.

A number of chairs, suitable for elderly members of our community, were recently removed from the meeting room in Bree Community Centre. Can these chairs be returned immediatel­y please?

SENIOR CITIZENS PARTY

Bree Macra would like to invite the senior citizens of Bree Parish to their senior citizens’ Easter Tea Party. The tea party will take place in Bree Community Centre on Monday, April 17 (Easter Monday). Refreshmen­ts will be served from 3 p.m. with light entertainm­ent following till 5 p.m.

Members will be calling with invitation­s over the coming weeks but anyone seeking more informatio­n is asked to contact Áine (086 0825018) or Cathal (085 1461164).

TABLE QUIZ

Wexford Academy dancers are holding a table quiz in Byrne’s Lounge, Bree on Thursday, April 13, at 9 p.m. in aid of their Costume Fund. All support appreciate­d.

COMMUNITY GAMES

Best of luck to those taking part in the Community Games Co Gymnastics Final in Gorey on Sunday next, April 2.

The Community Games Co Talent Competitio­n for under-12s and under-16s takes place in Bree Hall on Saturday, May 13, Competitor­s from Bree, Davidstown and Cloughbawn parishes are invited to take part. Events are solo and group dancing, singing, music and drama. Entries must be with the area sec by April 28. Please check with the area sec Clare at 087 4151350 or the Community Games website under Resources/Rule Book of each event.

The local Athletic Finals will take place on Thursday, May 11. Galbally Tractor Run the annual Galbally Tractor Run in aid of Galbally Parish Funds will take place on Sunday, May 28, School Enrolments.

Enrolments for September 2017 are now being taken for all the schools in the parish. To enroll in Ballyhogue NS, please call into the office or ring 053 9247677 for an Enrolment Form.

COMMUNITY PLAYSCHOOL

Galbally Community Playschool IS now taking enrolments for preschool in September 2017 and cater for children from all areas. Under the ECCE scheme children can be registered for free pre-school when they are aged three, and will be able to remain in free pre-school till they make the transition to primary school.

They have a limited number of places available, so please contact them as soon as possible at 086 3919416, email galballypl­ayschool@hotmail.com or call into the playschool during opening hours – Monday to Friday 9.25 to 12.25 located in Galbally National School. BREE AC ATHLETICS

Congratula­tions to Aoife Cloke Rochford on winning a silver medal in the 60m at the National Indoor Championsh­ips last weekend. Shane Rowley was fourth and Abbie Doyle was fifth in the 60m sprint. Best of luck to those involved this weekend. Outdoor athletics resumes for the summer season in Ballyhogue GAA Grounds on Mondays and Wednesday at 7 p.m. from Monday next, April 3, All athletes taking part must be registered for 2017. Indoor training will finish on this Thursday, March 30. to April 7. Wexara phone no 087 6094587.

COLLECTION THANKS

Wexford Mental Health Associatio­n would like to thanks those who contribute­d to their Church gate collection on February 4 and five. A total of €402.64 was raised.

LOCH GARMAN BAND

The Youth Band will take part in a fundraisin­g concert, on Thursday, March 30, in Bride Street Church at 8 p.m., for the 13th Wexford Scout Hall building fund, tickets are available on the night. The following week, the Youth Band will perform at a concert in the Mercy School, John’s Road on Wednesday, April 5, at 7.30 p.m., featuring the Mercy School Choir.

SCOIL MHUIRE FUN RUN

On Sunday, April 2, we will hold our Blue 5K Fun Run/Walk 2017, in aid of the Rainbow Unit (For Children on the Autism Spectrum) commencing at midday from Scoil Mhuire, Coolcotts, adults €12, children €6, family of four €25. Includes a Blue Run T-Shirt (limited numbers apply).

GAA CLUB NEWS

The club would like to say a big thank you to everyone who turned out for St Patrick’s Day parade – the children, parents, mentors, committee, and a big thanks to Mary Kavanagh for having all children looking so well turned out.

Congratula­tions to Frank Glennon on winning €242 in this week’s split-the-pot. Seller this week was Stephen Miller. Big thanks to everyone who supported us this week. Next week’s envelopes are on sale now.

LADIES GAA

Underage training will resume back outdoors this Wednesday evening at Clonard GAA pitch - under-10, under-12, under-14 will train from 6-7 p.m., under-16 girls will train 6-30-7.30, Training for under-14/under-16 Saturday mornings at volunteers pitch, time to be confirmed. The under-14 Team 1 game is cancelled for tonight but under-14 Team 2 will play away to Sarsfields on Saturday at 3.30.

Well done to our under-16 girls who played their first game of the championsh­ip against Crossabeg, after and exciting game of football they came away with the three points, next under-16 game home to Bunclody on April 13. Minor girls play away to Mouge O’Rahillys on April 5. Best of luck to all teams.

Féile will be held next Sunday for our under-14 girls, this is always an excellent well organised day of football for the girls, venue and times of games are to be confirmed.
