KRH TOPS GROUP

Congratula­tions and a huge well done to all the pupils of Kilrane NS and Tagoat NS who took part in South East Tops 2017 with Kilrane-Rosslare Harbour Tops Community Group. You were all amazing.

We were delighted to recieve the Children’s Award for your efforts. You are all a credit to yourselves your school and your parents. The group also earned the Best Female Singer Award for Elaine Pierce, Best Male Singer Award for Billy Brennan and Creativity Award for the Comedy Team.

MARITIME MATTERS

The Rosslare Harbour Maritime Heritage Centre is hosting a Maritime Exhibition entitled ‘A Maritime History of County Wexford Through Photograph­s’ from the John Power collection.

The exhibition will be officially opened on Friday, April 7, at 7 p.m. for 7.30 by councillor Jim Moore, and will run for six weeks up to and including May 21. The exhibition will feature hundreds of maritime photograph­s covering the 150 miles of the County Wexford coastline, from Courtown Harbour to New Ross.

It will take you back to the second half of the 1800s when Wexford had a shipping service to Liverpool and the Bristol Channel with steamships and sailing vessels through the First World War when young Wexford men joined the British navy to fight with the loss of many lives.

Opening hours are from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on each day of the exhibition. Admission is free and all are welcome.

ENVIRONMEN­T GROUP

The annual An Taisce National Spring Clean for the area will take place on Saturday, April 22 (All volunteers are welcome). The volunteers will be provided with gloves, litter pickers and bags. We will be leaving St Patrick’s Church at 9.30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Once again the skip will be provide and sponsored by AES. The ICA will be kindly providing refreshmen­ts afterwards in Kilrane Community Centre.

A table quiz in aid of the group will take place on Thursday, April 27, at 8.30 p.m. in the Railway Social Club, €20 per table of four.

Reminder: A WEEE (Waste Electric and Electronic Equipment) cage only for small Household electrical goods such as toasters, kettles, DVD players, hairdryers, electric drills, etc. and a container for the recycling of fluorescen­t tubes is situated at the back of the Railway Social Club. It is open on Saturday Mornings between 10.00 and 11.30 a.m., weather permitting.

TRAINING CVOURSE

Waterford and Wexford Education and Training Board are running a new course called ‘Enhancing Our Community Through Education’ in the Rosslare Harbour/Kilrane Area.

This is one course with various modules: Create a Sign for our new local Men’s Shed and gain the QQI Level three Woodcarvin­g Module; Create a Mosaic for the Memorial Garden in conjunctio­n with the Environmen­t Group and gain the QQI Level three Mosaic Module; With Kilrane National School, learn how to grow plants and gain a QQI Level three Horticultu­re Module; Participat­e in Team Activities.

This is a free course – but eligibilit­y criteria applies and is subject to sufficient numbers. Relaxation classes – this is good for body and mind so why not join us every Tuesday morning 10.30 a.m. to 11 a.m. €5 per session

Spinning Classes – Probably the most fun while getting fit that you can have on a bike Tuesday morning 9.45 and 6.30 p.m. that evening also Thursday 9.45 a.m. and 6.30 p.m. come along and join in we promise no pot holes.

Sign Language – ever wanted to learn? Well now is your chance. Class every Wednesday evening 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

TIDY TOWNS

Our next meeting which will be open to all, will take place on Wednesday, March 29, at 10.30 a.m. This will be an informal chat and catch up plus we are getting our picture taken by WLD so please make sure you have your best Sunday clobber on. Don’t forget about our big annual village clean-up.

Care For Rosslare Day will take place on Saturday, April 8, Prizes an goodies for all the kids who bring an adult with them as usual we will provide bags gloves etc. Last year we urged people ‘To Mind Your Own Patch’ which was very successful so please continue it this year. All you have to do is to keep the front of your property neat clean and tidy. If we all make a little effort we will achieve allot.
