She bore her cancer for 14 years with great courage, dignity and without complaint and passed away peacefully at her home on February 21.

She was devoted to the Adoration Sisters especially Sister Finbar, also St Anthony and Lady’s Island.

Eileen loved the Children’s Liturgy Mass in Clonard every Sunday.

When she wasn’t able to attend she would listen on the Clonard Radio.

Her Requiem Mass at the Church of the Annunciation was celebrated by Mgr Denis Lennon with Mgr Lory Kehoe in attendance.

Eileen’s grandchildren were all involved in the Mass. Bronagh read the second reading, Kelley and Hannah brought up the gifts, Sean, Cian and Ryan read the Prayers of the Faithful.

Eileen was daughter of Tommy and Johanna Howlin, late of Abbey Street and Kennedy Park, sister of Sheila, her brothers Joe and Thomas predeceased her, sisters-in-law Bridie and Noreen, brothers-in-law Noel and Bob.

One of her happiest days was when she moved into her new home at St Martins, Kennedy Park, where she died peacefully
