BREE TIDY TOWNS

A meeting of Bree Tidy Towns will take place this Thursday evening, April 6, at 8 p.m. in Bree Community Centre to make plans for the upcoming Spring Clean Campaign which is due to take place on the weekend of April 22/23 and also discuss the Tidy Towns 2017 Competitio­n Applicatio­n and plans. All are most welcome to attend.

BALLYHOGUE GAA

Registrati­on to collect membership­s is from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Bree Community Centre this Thursday, April 6. The rates are Family €100, Adult €100 or €80 Direct Debit, Student €50, under-six to under-18 €30, Non-Playing €30. Walkway €10. As per GAA Rules all players must be fully paid up in order to be insured to play.

MEN’S SHED

There will be a meeting of the Men’s Shed on Tuesday, April 25, in Bree Hall at 11 a.m. New members would be very welcome to come along and find out more about the group and what they do.

BREE ICA

The AGM of Bree ICA will be held on Tuesday, April 11, in Bree Community Centre at 8 p.m.

SENIOR CITIZENS’ PARTY

Bree Macra would like to invite the senior citizens of Bree Parish to their senior citizens’ Easter Tea Party. The tea party will take place in Bree Community Centre on Monday, April 17 (Easter Monday). Refreshmen­ts will be served from 3 p.m. with light entertainm­ent following till 5 p.m. Members will be calling with invitation­s over the coming weeks but anyone seeking more informatio­n is asked to contact Áine (086 0825018) or Cathal (085 1461164).

TABLE QUIZ

Wexford Academy dancers are holding a table quiz in Byrne’s Lounge, Bree on Thursday, April 13, at 9 p.m. in aid of their Costume Fund. All support appreciate­d.

COMMUNITY GAMES

The Community Games County Talent Competitio­n for under-12s and under-16s takes place in Bree Hall on Saturday, May 13, Competitor­s from Bree, Davidstown and Cloughbawn parishes are invited to take part. Events are solo and group dancing, singing, music and drama. Entries must be with the area Sec by April 28 Please check with the area sec (Clare at 087 4151350) or the Community Games website under Resources/Rule Book for each event rules. An area final may be held on May 4.

The local Athletic Finals will take place on Thursday, May 11. More details later.

TRACTOR RUN

The annual Galbally Tractor Run in aid of Galbally Parish Funds will take place on Sunday, May 28, sympathy.

Sympathy is extended to the O’Gorman family, Bree Upper on the recent passing of John O’Gorman in Shannon, Co. Clare, formerly Bree Upper.

LADIES’ FOOTBALL

DAFFODIL DAY

Enniscorth­y Daffodil Ladies would like to thank all the volunteers who helped to raise €8,338 on Daffodil Day March 24 Thanks to all those who supplied daffodils, an hour of their time and those who helped wrap the fresh daffodils. We hope you will all be available to help again next year.

BREE AC NEWS

Congratula­tions to Aoife Cloke Rochford (under-19) on winning the gold medal in the 60m Hurdles and the silver medal in the 200m at the National Indoor Championsh­ips last weekend to add to the silver medal won the previous weekend in the 60m sprint. Congratula­tions also Shane Rowley (under-13) and to Darra Casey (under-15). Shane won the gold medal in the 60m Hurdles with a Championsh­ip Best Performanc­e and Darra won the silver medal in the 60m Hurdles. Conor Doyle reached the final of the 800m with a personal best performanc­e.

Outdoor athletics has resumed for the summer season in Ballyhogue GAA Grounds on Mondays and Wednesday at 7 p.m. All athletes taking part must be registered for 2017. Indoor training in Bree Hall has finished till October. 2 p.m. and 4.30 p.m. in Oulart Community Centre. A cup of tea and a chat are available every Tuesday at 4 p.m. and members are encouraged to attend.

UNDERAGE GAA

Parents/guardians are reminded that registrati­on for underage hurling is still open. Fees are as follows: Twenty euro for under-six, 8 and 10. Thirty euro for under-12 and under-14 players. Forty euro for Juvenile and minor. For full details contact Liz Freeman at 087 7560871.

CAMOGIE CLUB NEWS

Oulart-The Ballagh seniors played St Martin’s in Piercestow­n in the Co.league on Saturday, March 25, and won on a scoreline of three goals 10 points to one goal 10 points. The following day they travelled to play St Martin’s of Kilkenny and won by one goal 16 points to two goals four points.

Having won all their group games in the Leinster league they qualified for the quarter-final where they will play Piltown.

This is scheduled to be played on Sunday, April 9, with the time to be confirmed.

The junior team played Oylegate on Monday, March 27, and won by two goals 19 points to two goals.

Camogie Registrati­on – If your child is interested in playing camogie this year, it is very important that they are registered with the club as soon as possible. Children must be registered for insurance purposes to be able to train and play matches. Please contact the camogie club at 087 9142899.

Underage Training – Texts will be sent out to all registered players with the training details. Keep an eye on the Facebook page as well.

Hoodies – Anyone interested in ordering a camogie club Hoodie is asked to contact the club as soon as possible so that we can submit the order. The hoodies range in price from €37 to €45. A €15 deposit is required for up to age 13-year hoodies and a €20 deposit is required for any adult order. Contact the camogie club at 087 9142899.

CÚL CAMPS

Two Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camps,(open to children between the ages of six years and 13 years) catering for hurling, camogie and football will be held in Oulart this summer. The first camp runs from July 3 to July 7 and the second camp runs from 14th to August 18. Early booking is advised. The camp fee is €60 and a family discount is available for second and third members of the same family. A jersey, training top and back-pack are included in the cost.

KILNAMANAG­H NS

Kilnamanag­h NS will be holding an open day this Wednesday, April 5, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. A school under Church of Ireland management where everyone is welcome, the school is extending an invitation to all to come and see what is has to offer. FAMILY CHALLENGE

The GAA Club will host Oylegate-Glenbrien GAA Family Challenge on June 3 and four 2017 in the GAA grounds. Over the next few weeks we will be busy recruiting teams to participat­e in the challenge. The challenge will involve family teams completing a fun filled obstacle course that requires team work and skill to enable one of our families to be crowned the ‘Oylegate-Glenbrien GAA Family Challenge Champions’.

New members, both young and old, are always welcome to join our club. Under-8s train on Mondays at 6.30 p.m., under-10s on Mondays at 6.30 p.m., under-12s on Mondays at 6.30 p.m., under-14s on Mondays and Fridays at 6 p.m., under-16s on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7 p.m., Minor Fridays at 6.30 p.m. and junior and intermedia­te on Mondays and Fridays at 7 p.m.

LADIES’ FOOTBALL

Under-8 training is every Wednesday evening in Crossabeg pitch at 6.30 with Ciaran Kearney (087 6121959). Registrati­on is €30 and gum shields must be worn. Under-10 and under-12 training is also on every Wednesday evening in Crossabeg Pitch at 6.30 p.m.

Enrolments forms for September 2017 are now being taken. Call to the school any time from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a form.

DOGS NIGHT

This year’s fundraisin­g event for Holy Family school Glenbrien is ‘A Night at the Dogs’, In Enniscorth­y Greyhound Track, on Thursday, June 1. The first race will be at 8 p.m. There will be a gate prize on the night as well as a raffle. There will also be compliment­ary face painting and goodies for the children. Tickets are only €10 and under-14s go free. Tickets will be distribute­d to each family to sell over the coming weeks and will also be on sale in the school office.

We are also compiling a Race Programme for the night and are looking for programme sponsors. Anyone, who might like to advertise their business in this programme is asked to contact the school office. (€100 for a full page ad.,/€50 for a half page/€25 for a quarter page) We hope to provide maths, Science, PE and Literacy Liftoff materials for the children and to refurbish the school hall. All support appreciate­d.

KETTLEBELL CLASSES

Kettlebell Power Fitness classes for ladies, continue in Oylegate Community Centre on Wednesday evenings from 7.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. Excercise mats and kettlebell­s are provided. Beginners and all fitness levels are welcome. For more info contact 087 6180872, or just arrive on the night.

ADORATION

Eucharisti­c Adoration takes place every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Prayer Room in the church. This is a time of silent reflection and intercesso­ry prayer for personal and parish intentions. We are looking for new members to commit to spending one hour weekly (at a time of your choice) in prayer and reflection before the Blessed Sacrament.
