WLOS gets ready for ‘9 to 5’ at Opera House

WEXFORD Light Opera Society ( WLOS) will take to the stage of the National Opera House, Wexford from Monday, April 24 to 29 with the high-octane show ‘9 to 5 The Musical.’

The hilarious, high-energy romp, with music and lyrics from Dolly Parton, is based on the 1980 hit movie of the same name.

Set in the late 1970s, it is a story of friendship and revenge being outrageous, thought provoking and even a little romantic and should have audiences dancing in the aisles.

WLOS welcomes Vivian Coates as Director for this production supported by the familiar and hugely successful WLOS team of Fintan Cleary, AIMS Best Musical Director 2016 for Evita, returning as MD, Nicole McDonald - Choreograp­her and Eithne Corrigan returns as Chorus Mistress.

The Society has Clayton Whites Hotel, McCauleys Chemists, Whitford House Hotel and McDonald Solicitors on board as major sponsors for this production.

The show was launched in Clayton Whites Hotel on Saturday night by Michael Londra before a large attendance. A top class local cast has been assembled for this production: Violet – Aileen Donohoe, Doralee – Sharon Clancy, Judy – Maggs Jacob, Franklin Hart – George Lawlor, Roz – Elizabeth Rose Brown, Joe – Eric Hayes, Dwayne – Stephen Byrne, Josh – Cillian Tobin, Missy – Jane Kent, Maria – Sarah O’Leary, Kathy – Antonia Close, Russell Tinsworthy – Fintan O’Leary, Detective – Brian Kelly and Doctor – Michael Benson.
