Recent card winners at hotel Curracloe were Kathleen Murphy and John Kelly. The Easter final will be played this Wednesday, April 12, at 8.30 p.m. You must have played six nights to qualify for the final. The FAI Soccer summer camp is back this year for boys and girls aged 6-14 years. It will take place at Bridge.

EASTER CAMP

The much awaited Shelmalier GAA Easter camp gets under way in Hollymount on Tuesday, April 18, and continues till Thursday, April 20, running each day from 10 a.m to 1 p.m. This annual camp will cater for boys and girls aged 6-14 years. Hurling, camogie and Football skills will be coached and practised in a fun and friendly environmen­t under the watchful eyes of many of the clubs coaches. The cost of the camp is €20 per child or €55 for three or more children from the same family.

Those participat­ing are reminded to bring with them a packed lunch, rainmac as well as their Hurley, helmet, shin guards, gum shields, runners and boots. If you have not registered already for the camp, registrati­on will be taken on the first day of camp. Many thanks to all the coaches who give of their time each year to ensure a successful camp.

HURLING

The Shelmalier Senior hurlers had the narrowest of victory over the Martins in their league match played on Friday night in Hollymount. The Martins were the first to score but a free from Joe Kelly and a good run and score from Stephen Banville levelled the scores in the tenth minute. A further four great scores from sharp shooter Joe Kelly put his side in the lead for the first time as half time beckoned. Both teams traded scores in the third quarter with Joe Kelly, Stephen Banville and Ciaran O’Shaughness­y scoring for the Shels.

The Martins levelled the scores as the game entered extra time but points from Joe Kelly and Arnie Murphy gave the Shels the lead before the Martins got the last score to give a one point victory to the Shels 0-14 to 0-13. The club would like to wish a speedy recovery to Emmet O’Leary, who was injured in the clubs intermedia­te hurling match against St James’ in Hollymount on Sunday last.

CONDOLENCE­S

We extend our condolence­s to the family of Olive Delaney (née Hannon) Coolrainey, Curracloe, who died on Tuesday, April 4, especially to her daughters, grand-children, relatives and friends. Her remains reposed at her residence with removal to Curracloe church on Thursday for Requiem Mass with burial to the adjoining cemetery.

Condolence­s also to the family of the late Daniel Potter, Curracloe, who died on Tuesday, April 4, especially to his wife Trish, sons Gavin and Dylan, daughter Amy, Mother, grandchild­ren, brothers, sisters, relatives and friends. His remains reposed at his residence with removal to Curracloe church on Friday for Requiem Mass at 11 o’clock with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Our condolence­s also to the family of the late Evelyn O’Brien, Ard Alainn, Castlebrid­ge, who died on Thursday, April 6, Wife of the late Jim, she is survived by her daughters Betty, Kathleen, Evelyn, Marie and Nuala and son Stephen, sisters, grandchild­ren, great-grandchild­ren, sons-inlaw, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family and friends. Her remains reposed at her residence with removal to Castlebrid­ge church on Saturday morning for 11 o’clock Requiem Mass with burial afterwards to Castlebrid­ge cemetery. R. I.P.
