POINT TO POINT

Mayglass man Jamie Codd is certainly putting up the miles in his quest to land his third national point to point riders championship. Jamie worked hard to see off Barry O’Neill last year and he must see off O’Neill again this year if he is to remain champion. Jamie rode five winners over the previous weekend to leave him just four behind Barry with Derek O’Connor just another four back in third place. We wish them all an injury free season and may the best man win.

Congratulations to Jamie on his second place finish in the Aintree grand national on Cause of Causes on Saturday last.

CLEARIESTOWN CEMETERY

Cleariestown Cemetery Committee wish to ballot the community on proposed changes to the layout of the graveyard plan in the new section, going forward, as follows.

Each grave would have its own headstone, one row would have the headstones at the top of the grave and the other would have it at the foot of the grave so the headstones would be back to back in the centre. As it is now we have a path, headstone, grave, headstone, grave and path, the new way would be path, grave, headstone, headstone, grave and path therefore making our paths wider for wheelchairs, funerals etc.

Ballot papers will be handed out at mass at a date to be confirmed in due course.
