Kilrane-Rosslare Harbour Tops Community Group will present their Award Winning show ‘Back.

Beat’ in Danby Lodge Hotel on Monday, April 17, at 7.30 p.m. There will be special guests on the night and a raffle for lovely prizes. Singing, dancing, Comedy and music and Craic for the Easter Holidays. Admission Adults £5 and Children Free. All Welcome. Please Support Your Local Tops Group.

DRAMA GROUP NEWS

The Ballycogle­y Players drama group brought the curtain down on its season of competitiv­e drama by sweeping the boards at the recent New Ross drama festival. Following a number of second place finishes at other qualifying festivals around the country the Billy Roche penned ‘Lay Me Down Softly’ took the spoils.

Director Breda Hayes was rewarded for her hard work by taking the best directors award. Cast member Chris Maddock received an nomination for a best actors award an award won by Paddy McGuire. Trish Boyce was rewarded by taking the best actress award in a supporting role and the group also received an award for the best set.

Though missing out by the narrowest of margins in its quest to qualify for the all-Ireland Final the group is pleased with its production­s of the play and would like to sincerely thank playwright Billy Roche for trusting them to take his play on its maiden voyage on the festival circuit.

The cast and crew will perform the play for one last time on Friday, April 14, in the Dun Mhuire Theatre , Wexford at 8.30 p.m. Admission €10 at the door.

Congratula­tions to Gergley Pap who competed in day three of the National Juvenile Indoor Championsh­ips on Saturday in the under-16 4kg Shot Putt placing fifth overall in a very strong field.

Emma Owens was in action in Athlone on Sunday in the Athletic Ireland Spring Throws where she competed in the Discus and Hammer finishing in fifth place in both, this was great result for Emma just back from injury.

Sunday also saw Shammy O’Brien take to the roads for the Wexford County Intermedia­te Road Race in Coolgreany where he placed 47th overall. Well done to all.

St Paul’s will hold their annual Easter Fun Road Race on Sunday, April 16, at 12.30 p.m. starting at the Railway Social Club – all are welcome there will be races for all ages. Our second ‘Mini Olympic’ evening will take place Monday, April 24, at 5.30 p.m. the first evening was a great success and everyone enjoyed themselves.

There are a few Open Track and Field days over the next few weeks starting with Ferrybank AC this Sunday, April 9, at midday at Waterford RSC and then next up is St Senan’s AC Monday, April 17, at 1 p.m. at the Sports Complex, Kilmacow. These days are a great opportunit­y for our young athletes to experience competitio­n ahead of the Wexford County Track and Field Competitio­ns early next month.

ENVIRONMEN­T GROUP

The annual An Taisce National Spring Clean for the area will take place on Saturday, April 22 (All volunteers are welcome). The volunteers will be provided with gloves, litter pickers and bags. We will be leaving St Patrick’s Church at 9.30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Once again the skip will be provide and sponsored by AES. The ICA will be kindly providing refreshmen­ts afterwards in Kilrane Community Centre.

A table quiz in aid of the group will take place on.

Thursday, April 27, at 8.30 p.m. in the Railway Social Club, €20 per table of four.

A WEEE (Waste Electric and Electronic Equipment) cage only for small Household electrical goods such as toasters, kettles, electric drills and a container for the recycling of fluorescen­t tubes is situated at the back of the Railway Social Club. It is open on Saturday Mornings between 10.00 and 11.30 a.m., weather permitting.

RNLI NEWS

Our annual MayDay fundraisin­g collection will take place on Saturday, April 29, in various locations throughout the locality. Your support and generosity would be greatly appreciate­d on the day.

Coastal Walk: A 16km Coastal Walk/Run (shorter distances optional) – Rosslare Harbour to Carne and back will take place on Saturday, May 20, at 3 p.m. The starting and finishing point will be the car park at the Rosslare Harbour beach. Entry fee: Adult: €10 – Students: €5 – under-12s: Free.
