1,200 are expected for half marathon and 10k
MORE than 1,200 people are expected to take part in the Pettitt’s SuperValu Wexford Half Marathon and 10k which take place in the grounds of Johnstown Castle and on the streets of Wexford in Sunday (April 23).
Half marathon runners go off at 10.30 a.m. in Johnstown and the 10k field will start from Wexford Quayfront at 10.45 a.m.
‘Nearly every county in Ireland is represented at the race as well as people from abroad,’ said organiser Eoin Ryan.
‘ The Wexford race has become a weekend away for many running groups and running clubs,’ said Eoin, adding that the marathon day could generate €250,000 in spending in the town and surrounding districts.
All participants will receive a long sleeved training top and have a choice of medals at the finish line of the race, which will raise funds for its official charity partner, the Irish Cancer Society
