SCHOOL FUNDRAISIN­G

With thanks to the generous support of the community, Oulart split-the-pot has raised over €8,000 for Scoil Mochua. This money has gone towards much-needed maintenanc­e of the school, updating of IT systems and the purchase of a series of books for the pupils. Due to your continued support the students will benefit hugely from these resources.

MINISTERS OF THE WORD

The Ministers of the Word for the weekend April 23 will be Anne Sinnott and Eileen Kehoe-Flynn. On the weekend of April 30 Breda Jacob and Linda Masterson will be on reading duty. Readers are reminded that the new rota is available from the sacristy.

ACTIVE RETIRERMEN­T

Members and intending members are reminded that membership fees are now due and can be paid any Tuesday, between 2 p.m. and 4.30 p.m. in Oulart Community Centre. A cup of tea and a chat are available every Tuesday at 4 p.m. and members are encouraged to attend.

FOOTGOLF FUNDRAISER

Looking for a fun family event? Fancy trying something different? How about some Footgolf?. Come along to Blackwater Golf Course on Saturday, May 20, to take part in our Footgolf Féile Fundraiser. The cost of entering a team is €40 (4 people on a team) and it is suitable for age seven upwards. Lots of prizes to be won.

This is a joint fundraiser by Coiste na nÓg and the camogie club in aid of our under-14 Féile teams who are progressin­g well with their preparatio­ns for the Féile competitio­n in June.

CAMOGIE NEWS

Leinster League – The senior team has progressed to the semi-final of the Leinster League having received a walk over from Pilltown of Kilkenny.

Final Call for registrati­on – If your child is interested in playing camogie and has yet to register, please contact the camogie club now at 087 9142899. Children must be registered for insurance purposes to be able to train and play matches.

Facebook – Players, parents/ guardians and supporters are reminded to keep an eye on the Oulart-The Ballagh camogie Facebook page for details of upcoming fixtures for all age groups.

CÚL CAMPS

Two Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camps,(open to children between the ages of six years and 13 years) catering for hurling, camogie and football will be held in Oulart this summer. The first camp runs from July 3 to July 7 and the second camp runs from 14th to August 18. Early booking is advised.

The camp fee is €60 and a family discount is available for second and third members of the same family. A jersey, training top and back-pack are included in the cost.

The FAI Soccer summer camp is back this year for boys and girls aged 6-14 years. It will take place at Bridge Rovers grounds from August 7 to August 11 Book online now on summersocc­erschools.ie. Book early as this camp sold out last year.

EASTER CAMP

The much awaited Shelmalier GAA Easter camp gets under way in Hollymount on Tuesday, April 18, and continues till Thursday, April 20, running each day from 10 a.m to 1 p.m. This annual camp will cater for boys and girls aged 6-14 years.

Hurling, camogie and Football skills will be coached and practised in a fun and friendly environmen­t under the watchful eyes of many of the clubs coaches. The cost of the camp is €20 per child or €55 for three or more children from the same family.

Those participat­ing are reminded to bring with them a packed lunch, rainmac as well as their Hurley, helmet, shin guards, gum shields, runners and boots.

If you have not registered already for the camp, registrati­on will be taken on the first day of camp. Many thanks to all the coaches who give of their time each year to ensure a successful camp.

COMMUNITY GAMES

The local Community Games committee are seeking entries for stage and musical events coming up shortly. There is competitio­n for boys and girls under-12 and 16 in solo music, singing, dancing and recitation and also competitio­n for group singing, music and dancing in these age groups too.
