Council introducing awards for estates
THE County Council is introducing a Local Authority Housing Estate Award Scheme to recognise and reward the voluntary hard work and dedication of residents in the upkeep of council estates throughout County Wexford.
The scheme, which is open to all Local Authority built estates, is all about fostering pride in local authority estates and recognising and rewarding individuals and groups for the manner in which they present their homes and their entire estate.
housing estates taking part in the scheme will be assessed using the following criteria:

* Absence of graffiti, illegal dumping, abandoned cars
* Planting initiatives - flowers, shrubs, hanging baskets
* Treatment of communal areas such as open spaces and grass margins
County Hall will carry out the judging process during the summer months and the results will be announced at Wexford County Council’s annual Residents’ Day which will be held on Tuesday, October 31. Winning entries will receive vouchers for local garden centres which can be used by the residents to further enhance their estate.
