Oylegate-Glenbrien steer clear of Stars

-

OYLEGATE-GLENBRIEN 3-10, Starlights 0-5: Two second-half goals ensured Oylegate-Glenbrien of their second win in the Enniscorthy Farm Systems Junior football championship Group B, as they defeated Starlights in miserable conditions in Monageer on Sunday.

The eventual winners always looked in control of proceedings, going in front early on thanks to Ciarán Hourihane and Damien Reck.

Stalights looked to be struggling with the conditions and wasted a number of scoring opportunities before Jamie Reck put his side further in front with a well-taken goal. Seamus Casey and Hourihane added points before the Starlights eventually got off the mark thanks to Ricky Fox, leaving seven between the sides at half-time.

Starlights put up more of a fight in the second period and, led by Ricky Fox, Eoin Quigley and Eamonn Furlong, they clawed scores back.

But they were proving too hard to come by while Oyegate-Glenbrien had more fire-power as Damien Reck, Conor Heffernan and Bryan McCormack put them further in front. Oylegate-Glenbrien put their Enniscorthy District opponents away with goals from Casey and Evan Kelly.
