FERRYCARRI­G ROWING CLUB

Ferrycarri­g Rowing Club will resume training for the 2017 season on Wednesday, May 3, at 7 p.m. Looking forward to seeing lots of old faces – and plenty of new ones – on shore.

If anyone has a friend or a brother or sister, mother or father, gran or grandad, son, daughter, niece, nephew, aunt or uncle who would be interested in jumping in a boat and pulling, then please ask them to come along and give it a try.

We will be on-shore beside the ‘Giraffe’ every Monday, Wednesday and Friday evening from 7 p.m. Wear trainers and bring a bottle of water. Look forward to seeing you there.

The 25th annual Mass and Wreath laying for Private Andy Wickham takes place at 11 a.m. on Sunday, May 7, in Barntown Church.

LONDIS CLIMB FOR JOY

Thank you to all for your support in raising funds for the Londis 2017 initiative, Climb for Joy for our charity partners, Pieta House. We have now reached our target figure of €2,100 and are happy to announce that we will be sending seven people to climb Corran Tuathail in Co. Kerry. Good luck to all involved.

CAMOGIE

Congratula­tions to Ciara Butler, who achieved the highest score in our club Féile camogie skills competitio­n. Ciara will go forward to represent the club at the upcoming county finals. Thanks to all the girls who came down to take part.

It’s take two for our senior camogie team who go head to head with Buffers Alley again on Monday next in Monamolin in a play off for a league final spot. Best of luck, ladies.

COISTE NA NÓG

Hard luck to our under-14 hurlers who were defeated by Buffers Alley in Monamolin on Thursday evening. It was level pegging at half time but the Alley pulled away in the second half to take the victory.

UNDER-6 ACADEMY – We started back on Saturday, April 29, at 10.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. in Glynn-Barntown GAA grounds and will continue each Saturday at this time. Any questions contact Ger at 087 2378165.

REGISTRATI­ON –A final registrati­on night was held on Thursday in the clubhouse for all underage girls and boys in the club. Thank you to all who have now registered with the club. As we are all starting the game season your child must be registered to play. Contact your child’s manager for registrati­on forms or download forms from the club website.

MICHAEL LAFFAN MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT – Our Michael Laffan Memorial Hurling Tournament is back this year but even bigger than before with 20 teams, 40 matches and 360 players. On Saturday, May 13, at 10 a.m., Glynn-Barntown GAA Club is the place to be.

MINI SEVENS FINAL – Hard luck to the gallant boys of Barntown NS beaten by Rathnure school last week, in the INTO Mini Sevens hurling final.

SENIOR GAA

Our Senior footballer­s were scheduled to play Round two of the Tom Doyle championsh­ip in St Patrick’s Park on Friday v Starlights. Result not available at time of print.

MODEL COUNTY TICKETS – Thanks to all who supported the club by buying a Model County Draw ticket. The first of the three draws took place recently and Glynn-Barntown GAA Club is delighted to have sold four winning tickets for this draw.

LADIES’ FOOTBALL

Well done to the under-10 Blue team with a great draw vs Kilmore on Wednesday evening in Killurin and well done to the under-10 Green team who had a great win vs Clonard/Volunteers on Wednesday evening. First matches of the season and two great performanc­es – well done all.

Huge well done to our Junior B ladies’ football team who had another fantastic win on Tuesday night vs St Anne’s. Two great wins under their belt now – what a great start to the season.

TENNIS

Glynn-Barntown Tennis Club are actively looking for new members and held an introducto­ry tennis evening on the courts in Glynn-Barntown GAA Club complex on Wednesday, April 26. Summer membership­s are now available. Any queries to Jane O’Shea 087 2742290.

HOLY COMMUNION

Next Saturday, May 6, will be a very special day for all our young friends in second class in Glynn NS as they make their First Holy Communion. We wish them and their families a wonderful day.

CAR BOOT SALE

Car boot sales continue every Thursday throughout the summer from 4 p.m. at Ferrycarri­g Park – home of Wexford FC. Admission: Traders from €10 Public €2 per car.
