TEA PARTY

An afternoon tea party will be held in Kyle Forge this coming Saturday, May 6, from midday till 3 p.m. Donations to cakes, buns, scones, tarts, and garden produce would be most welcome. All proceeds from the party go towards the upkeep and running costs of Crossabeg church.

COMMUNITY GAMES

This coming Saturday, May 6, Cliona Kearney and Eimear Halpin from Crossabeg will travel to Abbotstown, Co. Dublin, as part of the Wexford under-12 cross country relay team. Competing in the under-eight Freestyle event in the swimming competitio­ns will be Lauren Kehoe from Crossabeg. We wish them well.

The local Community Games committee will hold their annual athletics finals on Thursday, May 18, at Crossabeg community field. Further details in the coming weeks. The local schools will also be notified.

RECYCLING DRIVE

Crossabeg national school are organising a recycling drive. You can drop off items at the school on Friday, May 5, at 9.20 a.m, again at 2 p.m and also at 3 p.m. Items can also be handed in on Monday, May 8, between 9 a.m and 9.20 a.m. The organisers will take in unwanted clean clothes, bedlinen, shoes, bags, belts, towels, curtains and soft toys. Laptops and Mobiles are also accepted but please keep them separate. Your support for this event would be much appreciate­d.

SOCCER CLUB NEWS

Crossabeg Soccer club will hold their annual general meeting on Friday, May 12, at 7.30 p.m in Kyle Forge. Anyone wishing to propose a motion should do so seven days before the meeting. The Players re-Union will take place in Foleys pub on Friday, May 12, The club will also hold their annual charity match on Sunday, May 14, open day.

An open day will be held in the grounds and gardens of Artramon on Sunday, May 28, Countess Von Walderdorf­f has once again very kindly offered to open the gardens to visitors, as this event proved most popular last year. The event is being organised by the Crossabeg senior citizens committee.

ATHLETICS

Congratula­tions to St Killian’s AC athlete Amy Forde, who was the winner of the discus event at the Loreto schools track and field events held on Thursday of last week.

Also competing for the school was Jean Hanrahan, who finished in fifth place in the Long Jump (4.70m) and who also competed in the hurdles.
