TABLE QUIZ

St Ibar’s/Shelmalier camogie club will hold a table quiz on Friday next, May 5, in hotel Curracle. The event will begin at 9 p.m and is a fundraiser for the boys and girls Féile teams. Entry fee is €20 for a team of four persons, so get your team together for a night of good fun.

SUMMER CAMP

The FAI summer camp returns to Bridge Rovers AFC again this summer. The camp caters for boys and girls aged 6-14 years and takes place from August 7 to August 11

GEAR SHOP

Due to demand from players and supporters, the shop at Hollymount opens on Monday and Tuesday evenings from 6.30-7.30 p.m to facilitate those wishing to purchase Shelmalier camogie, hurling and football playing and leisure gear.

ATHLETIC FINALS

The local Community Games Athletic finals will be held on Thursday, May 18, in the local community field in Crossabeg. Details and schedule will be posted out to all schools. Registrati­on will take place at 6.30 p.m. These events cater for boys and girls aged under-8 right up to under-16. All children to be underage at July 31.

SCHOOL NEWS

Children from Curracloe national school travelled to Carrig-on-Bannow to take part in the Junior Féile recently. They competed in a number of individual, duet and trio competitio­ns as well as Ceili band. The standard of music was excellent and a number of children won medals.

In the under-8 individual tin whistle, Eilish Moran finished in third place; in the under-8 duet eight Mary Harding-Kenny and Mia Murphy (first) under-8 trio – Mary Harding Kenny and Mia Murphy and Lucy McCormack (second) and the under-8 band came third.

In the under-10 individual button accordion Seán Redmond (third) under-10 individual whistling VJ Doyle and Eoin O’Doherty (joint third) Thanks to Martha and Marie Torpey for all their hard work in preparing the children for the event.

Sincere thanks to all who generously supported the cake sale and raffle on Friday, April 7, A total of €458 was raised and will be used to purchase instrument­s for the schools music group. Thanks to the parents who helped out on the day.

The Rackard League hurling and camogie is now in full swing. the girls from fifth and sixth classes along with their team mates from Screen and Castlebrid­ge have played three matches with one win so far. The boys won both matches played to date.

Recent split-the-pot winner was Joe Lynch, who won €172.
