DANCING AT CAMROSS

The May dance will be held in Camross Ballroom on Friday, May 5, with music by Glenn Flynn and band. Glenn has a huge Camross following so we will expect to see to see all his avid supporters dance the night away to his music. Admission is €8 including the tea.

CAMROSS DRAMA GROUP

After two very successful nights last weekend in St Michael’s Hall and Fethard-on-Sea, Camross Drama Group are looking forward to the next two performanc­es. ‘Spinsters of Lavender Lane’ and ‘Fledged and Flown’ are set in the not-so-recent past but reflect perpetual and modern themes of politics, love, family and social class. ‘Write it down, Bertie’ is fast paced and draws some universal cameo characters.

CAMROSS ICA

Our next meeting will take place on May 8 at 8 p.m. in Camross Hall. The monthly competitio­n will be ‘As many items as you can fit in a small match box – no food and no two items the same please.

A few dates for your diary: May 20 – National AGM in Athlone. May 21 – The Ann Power Walk this year will be in aid of the Women’s Refuge and will start from Camross Hall at 6.30 p.m. May 25 – Bowling in Leisure Max. June 8 – Special Occasion Day (no venue yet). June 10 – ‘Pitch and Putt’ will take place in St Patrick’s in Enniscorth­y. June 12 to June 15 - A four-day tour to Mayo. July 7 – The Garden Party will take place in An Grianán (ICA Head Office). 14 of the ladies will be going to the event this year as this is our annual outing.

Dancing with Velma is on Thursdays at 8.45 p.m. in Camross Hall all are welcome. The ICA is a fun and dynamic group to belong to and a great way to meet with friends once a month so why not join us on May 8?

LADIES’ FOOTBALL

Our Junior A team proved far too strong for St Fintan’s in the first round of the championsh­ip, winning on a score line of 12-17 to 0-3. This is a great start to the season for the ladies winning three out of three games so far so keep training hard girls and this could be our year.

COMMUNITY GAMES

Our local area athletics event takes place at the GAA centre at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10. Registrati­on starts 5.30 p.m. There is a charge of €2 per child to cover the cost of the medals. The will be a fun race for under-6 boys and girls and races for ages under-8 to under-16. The county finals are on Sunday, June 25, at the track in Enniscorth­y. Thanks to the GAA club for the use of the grounds.
