Major improvement works at schools over the summer
TWENTY Wexford schools are to undergo ‘major’ improvement works over the summer.
The government-funded works include mechanical, sanitation and roofing upgrades, although no figures have been put on the projects so as not to influence the tender and bidding process.
The local schools that will benefit from the scheme include roofing works to Scoil Mhuire, Horeswood, Mechanical works in Good Counsel College, New Ross and Sacred Heart NS, Caim, Enniscorthy, and works at St Peter’s and Selskar College in Wexford. The full list of schools where the works will be carried out is: The Sacred Heart National School, Caim; Kilmyshall NS; St Joseph’s NS, Kilmuckridge; St Leonard’s NS, Ballycullane; Oulart NS; SN Clochar Mhuire, Rosslare; SN Clochar Mhuire, St John’s Road, Wexford; SN Baile Fada, Ballyfad, St Joseph’s NS, Donard, St Fintan’s NS, Mayglass; SN Padraig Naofa, Courtnacuddy; SN Baile An Phiarsaigh, Drinagh, Wexford; SN Bhaile Mhuire, Murrintown; Schoil Mhuire, Horeswood; FCJ Secondary School, Bunclody; Good Counsel College, New Ross; Our Lady of Lourdes Secondary School, Rosbercon; St Peter’s College, Wexford; Colaiste An Atha, Kilmuckridge and Selskar College, Wexford. Minister Paul Kehoe said the local works are part of a €47 million outlay for school improvements at 438 schools around the country over the summer to keep disruption to students, teachers and other school staff to a minimum.
