JOAN O’SHEA FFRENCH, who passed away peacefully surrounded by her family after an illness on April 24 aged 49, was a woman who always put others before herself.

Joan was the middle child of Billy and the late Agnes O’Shea. She attended primary school in Shielbaggan NS and went on to Ramsgrange Community School. She met Billy Ffrench around 30 years ago and the couple had two sons, Leon and Aaron.

Joan and Billy married in Carrig on Bannow a decade ago.

Joan worked in a number of bars over a 20 year period but always wanted to open her own business. With this in mind she bought a mobile coffee van for events, festivals and to serve commuters, but sadly her illness prevented her from developing it like she had dreamed.

A house proud woman, Joan loved working on house projects and as soon as one room was finished she was on to the next. She enjoyed tending to her garden and making her house as homely as humanly possible for her family.

In her final year nothing thrilled her more than spending time with her grandson Brandon, who is one and her family.

Always an active woman, Joan loved to walk her dogs and took great care of them.

She was someone who always put others before herself. An outgoing, friendly woman, who was private in her own way and had a close knit group of friends, she will be sadly missed by all who had the good fortune to meet her, and above all, by her beloved family.

Joan passed away peacefully in University Hospital Waterford on April 24.

A huge crowd attended her funeral Mass at St James’s Church in Ramsgrange and her burial afterwards in Ramsgrange Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Billy; sons, Leon and Aaron; brother, Liam; sister, Carmel; daughter-in-law Sabrina; relatives abd friendes.

May her gentle soul rest in peace.
