Walshes Hairdressers celebrating 85 years of successful business

-

ROBBIE Walshe founded Walshe’s Hairdressers in South Street in 1932, and after 85 years the business is still thriving. Robbie built up a great reputation as a ladies and gents stylist. Biddy Prendergast went to work for him in the mid forties, and was later to become his wife.

Robbie died a relatively young man in 1965 and this left Biddy with the business to run and 6 children to rear. All of her 6 children followed in the family business and trained as Hairdressers . John and Bob branched out into their own premises.

Biddy retired when she was 72 , and her daughter Yvonne and her son Bob took over the business in the late 90’s.

Walshe’s Hairdressers is currently being run by Yvonne with her sister Claire.

Yvonne said that “Claire and I are very proud to be carrying on the family business and we strive to always offer professional and friendly service. We are constantly upskilling with the latest styles and techniques . We always welcome our customers with complimentary tea and home-made scones . Our strive for excellence and the very best customer care could not be achieved without the dedication of our committed staff, Emily , Angela and Donna”.

“We wish to thank all our customers for their loyalty through the years and we look forward to looking after them for many years to come.”
