Pulling like a dog at Edermine!
EDERMINE Ferry Rowing Club kicked off the 2017 season by holding open introductory rowing nights at their training base on the River Slaney, just off main Enniscorthy-Wexford road.
These nights proved very popular and there was great enthusiasm shown by the newcomers who participated.
First established in 1973 the club rows both the traditional Slaney Cots and the universal one-design yawl which is used by all Coastal Rowing clubs around the country. With a combined Adult and Junior membership this is a very family orientated sport. Children should be 10 years old in 2017 to participate but there is no upper age limit for adults.
The club is part of the Slaney Rowing Association and each member club hosts a regatta during the summer months. The Edermine regatta date is set for Saturday, July 8 and Sunday, July 9, and promises to be a great spectacle of racing from the Marmion Bridge.
Throughout the year adult members also compete in long distance endurance rows around the country which attract participants from many European countries also. The club’s full training schedule started last Wednesday night and early participation is recommended. For more information on training nights contact Club Secretary on 087 4146813 in the evenings) or check out the ‘Edermine Ferry - Public Page’ on Facebook for updates.
