CONGRATULA­TIONS

Well done to Barntown man Fergal Dempsey and his wife Jodie, who scooped the best casual dining award at the recent Food Oscars in Dublin. Well done also to Tariq, who works at the restaurant ‘Wild and Native’ in Rosslare.

BOOK FAIR

The Book Fair will take place in Glynn NS from Friday, May 19, till Friday, May 26. This sale of children’s books will be open to parents and to the general public everyday from 3 p.m. It will also be open on Saturday the 20th at 8.30 p.m. and on Sunday the 21st at 11 a.m. We look forward to seeing you there.

TENNIS

Following the success of their second introducti­on to tennis night, Glynn-Barntown Tennis Club is holding a rules/position on court etc informatio­n night on the courts on Wednesday, May 24, at 7 p.m.

Also there are a couple of new members who are complete beginners and are looking for another few to form a group. If anyone is interested come along on the 24th, or if you know of anyone pass the word.

CHURCH NEWS

This weekend, local accountant and parishione­r James White, will present 2015/2016 accounts at all masses in Barntown. Accounts are annually filed with the diocese. Accounts and properties of the parish and are required to be kept in line with the requiremen­ts of the Charity Act 2009. Gratitude is extended to James.

CHRISTENIN­GS

Congratula­tions to the Donegan family from Barntown on the recent christenin­g of twins Florence Jean and Max Anthony. Congratula­tions also to the Buckely family who recently had baby Seán Xavier christened in Barntown.

Well done to both of our under-10 camogie teams who played outstandin­gly well in their blitz in Blackwater on Sunday morning.

Hard luck to our under-16 boys defeated by HWH/Bunclody on Monday evening in football.

Congratula­tions to all the super boys and girls of Barntown NS and their families on their First Holy Communion on Saturday. We hope they all enjoyed their day.

Hard luck to clubman John Leacy and James Stafford and the Wexford senior footballer­s defeated by Carlow in the first round of the Leinster championsh­ip.

LADIES FOOTBALL

Well done to the under-10 Blue ladies’ football team who played really well in their victory on Friday evening over Taghmon-Camross.

Well done to Gráinne and Caitlin members of the Wexford under-13 ladies’ football developmen­t squad who played an all-Ireland blitz last weekend.
