TIDY TOWNS

Weather dictates everything so we had something of a lull in our preparations for this year’s Adjudication. However, the time was well spent in completing the very comprehensive Entry Form which will be on its way in a day or two.

The Council’s Litter Warden is following up on the reckless disposal of Black Litter Bags, we would ask all Residents and interested parties to keep an eye out as this behaviour must not be tolerated.

With all the mention of dog dirt people might begin to think that we do not like dogs, nothing could be further from the truth, all we ask for is the co-operation of the dog oners and this is for the good of the Village but even more importantly it is to protect the health, especially of children.

Friday, May 5, we organised a Bird Survey in the Grove, this was done with the help of some children from Scoil Mhuire and Niamh Lennon Biodiversity Expert Wexford CC although the day was very wet it was very successful in that quite a number of Birds were identified and the bird-song was beautiful. This will continue on a Monthly basis and the results will be made available thereafter. We Thank Niamh, and Scoil Mhuire.

Also May 18 was the final of the four part Seminar on ‘Stop the Food Waste Challenge ‘, a full report will be made available next week, meanwhile we wish to thank Cliona Connolly, Environment Awareness Office at Wexford CC and Betty Kehoe, who was the facilitor. Betty made it both an interesting and enjoyable Seminar.
