RICHARD NAVARRO WITH STAGEFRIGHT Wexford Arts Centre, June 15
On his first Irish tour, the multi-talented UK singer and musician Richard Navarro will appear in concert with the Wexford-based choir Stagefright at Wexford Arts Centre on June 15. Richard will be joined by Nicholas Thurston on double bass, guitar and synthesisers. The duo have regularly supported Joan Armatrading on her UK tours and are currently bringing their powerful collection of songs entitled ‘Firewatching’ to theatres, festivals and arts centres around Europe.
PIERCE TURNER CONCERT St Iberius Church, Wexford, June 17
The New York-based Wexford musician Pierce Turner is returning to St. Iberius Church on Wexford’s Main Street for a concert on June 17. The grand piano and church organ make St. Iberius the only venue locally where Turner’s album ‘Love Can’t Always be Articulate’ can be reproduced. It was recorded in the superb acoustics of a Manhattan Church. This is a chance to catch him on a short Irish tour taking in Cork, Wexford and Dublin before he returns to Manhattan. Tickes are available from Wexford Arts Centre.
WALLIS BIRD HOMECOMING GIG Presentation Centre, Enniscorthy, July 8
After touring Australia, Japan and all over Europe, Wallis Bird is returning to her Enniscorthy roots for a homecoming gig at the Presentation Centre in Nunnery Road on July 8. Tickets at €23 are available from Lantern.ie or Byrne’s Bookshop in Enniscorthy. This is a standing show with balcony seats allocated on a first come, first served basis.The Galbally native whose most recent album is aptly called ‘Home’ performed her last Enniscorthy concert at the Strawberry Festival in 2014.
