Quality food in a relaxed and traditional pub

-

COOPER’S Inn offers something for everyone, a relaxing meal, a nice pint, a rich history and of course a taste of Killinick through the many local punters. There has been a long tradition of great drink and service in Cooper’s Inn, while also recently providing quality food through their varied bar food menu that will suit all taste.

With the recent acquisition by local businessman Eugene Fortune from John’s Road, one thing they are proud of today is their locally sourced fresh seasonal fish dishes which will be available daily as specials from as little as €15.95.

Eugene, son of Des and Catherine who use to own Fortune’s Pharmacy in Wexford Town, has designed a new menu for the establishment with the help of chef Ken Burke who has been cooking great food in Cooper’s Inn for six years.

When Eugene took over Cooper’s Inn he had one idea in mind – to create a menu with simple, homemade, affordable, tasty bar food set in an old-fashioned, Irish atmosphere.

The dinner menu, which starts at 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Monday to Friday and 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday & Sunday, offers homemade soup €4.50, fresh seafood chowder €6.95, warm tiger prawn and mango salad €7.95, steak and guinness pie served with creamy potato €10.95, braised lamb shank €11.95, Coopers famous seafood pie €15.95 and much more.

‘We will soon have a lunch menu from 12 noon until 3 p.m. up-and-running where everyone can avail of light, fresh dishes such as sandwiches, soups, salads and some curries,’ said Eugene, who has 20 years experience in hotel management.

While the bar still retains its historic features, there will be a new outdoor dining area for the summer months that will offer customers the choice of old Ireland or a relaxing summer dining experience.

‘We will have 70 to 100 seats in our outdoor dining area. It will be extended out from the front and have a partition to separate it from the car park,’ said Eugene.

The new dining area will take up six parking spaces, but 44 are still available to all customers – free of charge and easily accessible, being situated on the side of the Rosslare Main Road, N25.

Cooper’s Inn will be open from 12 noon for the summer season, serving their new, extensive menu until 9 p.m. It’s a perfect location off the N25, easy for any customer to pop in for great food when they are on their travels.
