Ecommerce role explored at talk
MANY of North Wexford’s business owners recently attended an early morning gathering in the Ashdown Park Hotel, Gorey, to hear an informative and timely talk on the necessity of having an online presence and the importance of ecommerce.
The breakfast briefing, organised by the Love Gorey campaign, saw ecommerce expert Patrick Doran outline how online activity can boost business - a very relevant topic given the central role of websites, ecommerce, and social media in business today.
Patrick is a lecturer in the School of Retail and Services Management in Dublin Institute of Technology, specialising in retail information systems.
He also explained how different age groups interact with the internet and social media, and the increasing importance of Instagram in businesses such as fashion and food, that have a visual element to their offering.
The event also marked the one year anniversary since the revamp of the Love Gorey campaign to promote Gorey town and the North Wexford area as a premium destination for locals and visitors.
Since then, the campaign has achieved great success, and PR co-ordinator Deirdre O’Flynn highlighted the different elements of the campaign, and pointed out that each month, Love Gorey engages with over 10,000 people, across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and the LoveGorey. ie site itself.
The Love Gorey website and its social media profiles are focused on making Gorey, Ferns, Courtown, and the surrounding areas a key consideration for holidays, short breaks, gourmet dining, shopping, historic viewing, walking, family fun, corporate events and more.
The event was also addressed by Gorey Chamber of Commerce president Jim Hughes who highlighted how Gorey is strategically placed to benefit from its retail, tourism, agriculture, and tech offering.
Gorey Municipal District Manager Amanda Byrne also contended that Gorey is well placed to become the Westport of the east coast, as a go-to destination for both locals and tourists.
