ALL BLACKS AFC

Reminder: the FAI Camp at All Blacks AFC, Casey Park from July 24 to July 28 is now open for booking. Book now on summersoccerschools.ie.

The under-14 girls finally managed to get their last league game of the season played in wet conditions at Casey Park. The girls were guaranteed a second place finish in the league no matter what the outcome was but a win would ensure a title playoff against local neighbours Forth Celtic. A nervous start from the All Black AFC girls saw St Leonards take an early two goal lead. Niamh Reese pulled two goals back for the home team but they still went into half time 3-2 down.

The second half was to prove decisive with the home team finally finding their rhythm and goals from Emma Carr, Aoife Houghton, Seren Ward and a third from Niamh Reese to complete her hat trick. This ensured a 6-3 win and a playoff. Details of the playoff to be confirmed by the league.

Well done to all the squad throughout the campaign to date recording nine league wins from 10 games and scoring over 60 goals in the process. Well done to Lee Kelly, Dan Devereux, Tadgh McDonald, Evan Cullen, Kyle Rankin and Tadgh Deegan from All Blacks AFC under-13s who were in the Wexford Squad competing in the Cremin’s Cup in Tipperary on Saturday of last week.

ST FINTAN’S

During the recent past the St Fintan’s adult football team was due to take on Geraldine O’Hanrahansin ahome fixture in the All county football league Div.3 B but received a walkover from its intended opponents. The team did travel to Cloughbawn later in the week to take on the home side and ran out comfortable winners 5-19 to 3-07.

SCOUTS

Congratulations to young Scout team of Huan Er McBride, Senan Murray, Adam Ffrench, Danny Lawton Corish, Ava Lawton Breslin, Brendan Thompson and Seán Whitty, who received Silver Standard at last weekend’s Co Scoutcraft competition in the IOAC Tagoat. They also won Camp Chef Award for third year in succession. It was a great achievement despite the weather.

Overall it was the highest standard of competition in years. The highlight of the weekend was a tribute to Rescue 116 where scouts, ventures leaders and families stood in formation around a ground display, clapping as the Coast Guard Helicopter flew over the site a number of times. The scouts are holding a Trolley raffle in Brady’s Mace Kilmore Quay on Saturday, June 17.

ST FINTAN’S LADIES

The under-14 team welcomed St Anne’s to Ballymore to play in a third round league game. Team Fintans were looking for a win to restore confidence after two defeats. The team took to the field with determination and no little skill and a convincing win was recorded to get the campaign back on track. Well done to all 20 players who participated on the evening.

Well done to the junior team on a great team performance against Bannow-Ballymitty in the championship, the ladies started brightly taking an early lead which they held on to for the rest of the game. Bannow gave the girls very little breathing space, and this was a hard fought victory. The final score was 2-7 to 1-6.

GOLF AND RACING

Rosslare golf club saw itsfirst major of the season in the ladies’ section of golf played in a continual downpour but this did not deter a very determined Ballymore lady Maura Farrell from taking the spoils. No doubt husband Syl helped her with her ‘swing’. We congratulate Maura and wish her all the best with her game in the future.
