GAA CLUB NOTES

The club had one winner in the Model County draw well done Oliver Delvin on ur cash prize of €150.

The golf classic will take place on Friday, August 11, in Wexford.

CHANGE OF VENUE for the bingo this Sunday it will take place in Ballymitty as a drive in Bongo at three o’clock. Two thousand euro in prizes to be won.

The intermedia­te football team travelled down to take on the St Anne’s team in Rathangan on Friday last in the league and headed home with a two point win. Well done, lads.

The junior ladies’ football squad lost by only three points against St Fintan’s during the week. Improving every match well done girls.

Féile raffle winners were Tom Brady Fethard, Ita Hannigan Rathangan and Mkna French Johnstown. Thanks to everyone who supported the draw €895 was raised.

FATIMA ROSARY

The Fatima Rosary will be held at the Grotto Grantstown on Saturday, June 10, at 2 p.m. in celebratio­n of the 100th anniversar­y of Our Lady appearing at Fatima.

BALLYMITTY HALL

Come join us for a fun and entertaini­ng night of Food and Wine tasting on Friday, June 9, at 8 p.m. in Ballymitty Hall, proceeds in aid of Ballymitty New Hall Fund. The wines on the night are some of the wines stocked by Wallace’s SuperValu, Wellington­bridge and the host will be the very knowledgea­ble and entertaini­ng Mary Gaynor of Wine Academy Ireland. Féile Bingo – Monster Drive in bingo in Ballymitty Hall on Sunday, June 11, at 3 p.m. This is a fundraiser in aid of the under-14 boys and Girls Féile na nGael 2017 teams. €1,500 in prizes. Hope to see you all there supporting the boys and girls.

HISTORICAL SOCIETY

Bannow historical society held its AGM on Monday, May 29, in Tír na nÓg, Wellington­bridge. A good crowd attended and it was nice to see some new members on the night. Chair. Anne Farrell opened the meeting and welcomed old and new members on the night. She then handed over the meeting to Rich Howlin and he spoke of developmen­ts in the society during the course of the previous year.

The minutes of 2016 AGM were read and adopted. The chairperso­n then addressed the meeting and the secretary, treasurer and pro gave their reports. Rich Howlin then proceeded with the election of the officers.

All of the 2016 officers were re elected: chairperso­n Anne Farrell. Vice-chair: Dennis Kenny. Secretary: Dermot McCarthy. Treasurer: Pádraig Kenny. PRO: Kevin Murphy. Committee; Rick Donnelly, Anne Lacey, John Harpur, Andrew Moore and Jimmy Whitty.

This year’s annual historical tour will take place on Saturday, July 15.
