Kennedy College links with Abú Montessori
KENNEDY College Further Ed. Department is delighted to establish apprenticeship links with Abú Montessori, Dowley’s Barn, New Ross, under the EU funded Erasmus+ programme. As part of this programme, 3 Spanish students have just completed a 3 month work experience block, at Abú Montessori, Dowsleys Barn, New Ross.
Niamh Fitzgibbon, owner/ manager of Abú Montessori was delighted to receive the students and to take responsibility for supervising the students during their time here. The Erasmus+ programme was initiated by Kennedy College, which offers Early Childhood Care and Education Courses at QQI Levels 5 and 6.
Commenting on the link Niamh says, “Our whole service has benefited from this apprenticeship programme and I would highly recommend it to both students and Early Years Education Centres. Our apprentices were kind, motivated and full of ideas and fun. They were also of real practical help to our teaching team, and they developed deep and meaningful relationships with the children. Working with the students also gave us a wonderful opportunity to share perspectives on Early Childhood Education in both our countries. These students were particularly interested to learn about our inclusive practices, such as the AIM scheme, which provides special supports for children with additional needs”
Students from Kennedy college can also avail of this Erasmus + programme and a number of PLC students at the college are currenttly deciding on their European ventures. Apart from the European dimension to work experience, students will naturally become fluent in the language of their host country, thus opening up numerous career opportunities for them.
