SUMMER SOLSTICE

The Hope Cancer Support Centre will hold their annual summer Solstice 5K Walk and Ceremony of Light and Healing on Curracloe Beach on Wednesday, June 21, at 8 p.m. All are invited to go along and be part of this very special ceremony and to enjoy a peaceful and serene walk on this beautiful beach.

CASTLEBRID­GE SHOW

The annual 77th Castlebrid­ge Show will take place on Sunday, August 13, Preparatio­ns are well under way for yet another brilliant day out. Make sure and check out the shows new Facebook page @castlebrid­geshow or if you have any queries email castlebrid­geshow@gmail.com the committee are looking forward to seeing you on show day.

The show committee wish to extend their sympathy to the family of the late Paddy Banville, Barryscros­s, Taghmon on their recent bereavemen­t. Paddy was a long time supporter of the Castlebrid­ge show. May he rest in peace.

GARDEN EVENING

Castlebrid­ge Show committee are holding a garden evening with Syl Doyle of Wilton nursery, Bree on Wednesday, July 5, in the Community Garden, Castlebrid­ge, commencing at 8 p.m. His talk will include advice on fruit trees and pruning. He will also have a selection of plants for sale. Tea and coffee will be served after the talk and admission is free.

CÚL CAMP

The Shelmalier Cúl Camp for hurling, football and camogie takes place from July 17 to July 21 (week 1) and week two from July 31 to August 4 the days will be packed with fun, games, skills and friendship­s. They are held daily from 10 a.m till 2.30 p.m. The cost is €60 for the first child, €50 for the second and €40 thereafter. The cost is only €35 for the second week (no gear).

SUMMER SOCCER CAMP

The FAI summer soccer camp is back for six- to 14-year-old boys and girls from August 7 to August 11 and takes place at Bridge Rovers AFC. Book now on summersocc­erschools.ie. Book early as this camp sold out last year.

DEVELOPMEN­T LOTTO

results of the Curracloe United lotto for Sunday, June 19, as follows. The numbers drawn were 11, 19, 24 and 28. There was no jackpot winner and one match-three winner, Aidan McGuire, Ballina, Curracloe, who won €150. Next week’s jackpot stands at €7,000 and the draw takes place in the Curracloe Roadhouse on Sunday, June 25, at 9 p.m.

COMMUNITY GAMES

A reminder to all children who qualified for the county finals of the Community Games athletic events, that they should attend for training at the community field in Crossabeg every Monday evening from 7 p.m. to 8.15 p.m. They are also welcome along during the Thursday evening training sessions. The county finals take place at the Hub in Enniscorth­y on Sunday, June 25, and all athletes are asked to be in attendance by 9.30 a.m.

On Tuesday, June 27, the Graduation ceremony will take place at 10.15 a.m. Fr Kelly will celebrate the school Mass in Curracloe church.

Heather from the Dogs Trust and her dog Ted recently visited the school to deliver a workshop to all the children. The workshop introduced the theme of responsibl­e dog ownership and the children learned how the Dogs Trust look after dogs. It was a very informativ­e and educationa­l experience for everyone.

Well done to recent split-the-pot Winners Amy and Laura Canning (€200) and David Fenton (€207). Sincere thanks to everyone who generously supported the draw over the last school year. A special word of thanks also to local businesses for their support. The draw will resume in September.
