Gentle Sheila was a family woman of great faith

-

LOVING mother Sheila Waters from Chapel Street, Taghmon was surrounded by her beloved family when she passed away peacefully at Wexford General

Hospital on June 23 following a brief illness, just a week short of her 91st birthday.

Sheila, who was originally from Ballyoughton, Carrig-on-Bannow was born on

July 1, 1926 and as a young woman, she worked for many years at Scanlons of Balloughton House where she was held in high esteem by the family.

In September 1946, she married Michael (Mick) Waters from Taghmon and they enjoyed a happy life together for 65 wonderful years, rearing a family of five children - three girls and two boys. Sheila was known as the ‘Lady from Chapel Street’. She was a woman of great faith who touched the hearts of all who knew her and this was reflected in the huge attendance at her funeral.

She was a wonderful neighbour and friend. She gave freely of her time to the needy over the years and was a very gentle and unassuming person. Sheila loved music and was a wonderful dancer. She enjoyed going to Grantstown Day Care Centre every Tuesday where she was known to sing a few tunes and dance a few waltzes. She enjoyed the simple things in life. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who all loved her dearly.

Sheila is survived by her daughters Marie, Breda and Carol; her sons John and Peter; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sons-in-law and daughter-in-law and by her extended family and dear friends. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Rest easy Mam.
