Congratula­tions to Darren Nolan, who has been appointed Principal of the Ballagh National School. Darren, of course, is a past-pupil of the school and he brings a wealth of experience to the position, a great knowledge and understand­ing of the locality as well enjoying the respect of the whole community. VOLUNTEERS TO AFRICA

Local medical student, Dervla Nimmo is holding a coffee morning in Oulart Community Centre, after 10 a.m. Mass, on Sunday, July 16, to help raise some funds to acquire medicines and equipment for a hospital in Africa. Dervla, along with three other student doctors, will spend a month in Africa and will fund their own travel and other expenses so that all money raised will go to the hospital project. Your support would be greatly appreciate­d.

PARISH RAFFLE

Thank you to everyone who supported the annual parish raffle. The draw took place in the community centre after the patron and the lucky winners were: €150 Peg Wickham, €100 Jack Adams, €50 Kathleen O’Connor, €25 S. O’Hanlon and €25 Mary Donohoe.
