Julie is ready to bloom at Rose of Tralee festival
THERE WAS plenty of excitement at Enniscorthy Castle on Friday as Wexford Rose Julie Sinnott got ready for the adventure of a lifetime as she represents Wexford in this week’s Rose of Tralee Festival.
A native of Ballindaggin, Julie is well-known having worked as a teacher at Boolavogue National School for the past four years where she has quite a number of young fans. In the coming school year she will start a new role in Piercestown NS, hopefully having been crowned Rose of Tralee!
It was the idea of Cllr Kathleen Codd Nolan to mark the occasion and wish Julie all the best before she hits the road for Kerry and Chairman of Enniscorthy Municipal District Keith Doyle was on hand to present her with a gift voucher and a special commemorative Enniscorthy pin ahead of the festival.
‘I’d like to congratulate Julie on everything she’s achieved so far,’ said Cllr Doyle. ‘I wish her all the best and hope that she brings home the big prize for us, herself and her family, who must be so proud.’
Excited to get into full festival mode, Julie says the support has been unebelievable.
‘It means the most to me to be representing the people of Wexford and especially Enniscorthy in Tralee,’ she said. ‘To be recognised like this here today...I already feel like a winner before I get down there. The support has been amazing. I think half of Ballindaggin and Boolavogue are going down to Kerry! To anyone making the journey, Lenane’s Pub is the official Wexford pub so we might see you there.’
Julie hit the road on Sunday to Maynooth where she joined up with the other roses to get started on a two day tour before hitting Tralee for the big event where everybody in the county will be watching on in the hopes that she can score a big win.
