Martin’ s life celebrated by many
MARTIN Sinnott from Crosstown, Ferrybank was a much-loved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who sadly left this life on Sunday, July 23.
Martin was born in Kilmore, Wexford in 1932 and stayed very much in touch and involved with his birthplace throughout his life.
He worked in Johnstown Castle until his retirement and maintained strong friendships with all of his former colleagues. Martin’s love of the land and his gardening skills were very well known, appreciated and enjoyed by many.
His friendly disposition and warm personality meant that Martin accumulated a large circle of friends, who attended in big numbers at the funeral ceremony.
The ceremony was a lovely tribute to a kind and gentle man, where music was provided by former Johnstown colleagues Nick Kinsella and Liam Gaul.
Following the ceremony, Martin was carried by his sons and grandsons to his final resting place in Kilmore on a bier, which was constructed in 1939 and used for the first time when Martin’s own father was buried.
Martin bore his illness in recent years with great dignity and determination, but he sadly passed away surrounded by all of his devoted family.
The months mind Mass will take place Sunday, August 27, at 10am, in St Mary’s Church, Kilmore.
