Why you should attend the Iverk Show

-

THERE are so many reasons why you should attend the Iverk Show on the 26th August. There is something for everyone, young and old and suitable for different interests.

If you are interested in cooking the show this year is a must for you. In the Iverk Show ‘food market’ there will be cooking demonstrations all day. There will be the final of the Flogas All Ireland Cook Championship. A meal using Irish ingredients will be cooked at the show.

Supported by Glanbia and Kilkenny Leader Partnership there will be plenty of locally produced foods to be tasted and purchased.

If livestock is your thing you will be spoilt for choice. From the huge Aldi/ABP Irish Angus championship to the Nissan show jumping grand prix, the Red Mills poultry marque to the Investec Wealth and Investment’s fabulous mares and foals, with sheep and dogs the competition will be intense.

Don’t forget to bring your own dog for the fun agility test.

Do you like arts and crafts? With a 50m marque full you will surely find a craft that interests you. The flower arranging exhibits are just stunning.

If you would rather grow your own flowers and vegetables, I am reliably told that this year’s giant pumpkin will be the biggest ever seen at the Iverk Show. The Fruitfield baking classes are special.

For those of you from the older generation the vintage section will bring you on a fascinating trip down memory lane – enjoy it!

Ladies your day would not be complete without a visit to the fashion show. Sit down and watch the latest designs from leading companies worn by our very own local models. You can also enter the most appropriately dressed lady competition with first prize of dinner, B & B in the 5* Merrion hotel and €400 to spend at Louise Kennedy’s fashion store.

For the young people, there is a free play area; babies, make sure you encourage your parents to enter you in the bony baby competition. There are prizes for you all.

If you are feeling fit have a go at the Tug O War. Cheer on your team. There is a lady’s competition also.

After all that you can browse the outdoor or indoor trade stands or just sit and relax with a drink of some sort and listen to the relaxing music.
