CHURCH NEWS
Today, Tuesday, August 15, is the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and is a Holy Day. Mass at 11.15 a.m. and again this evening at 7 p.m.
Prayer meeting on Wednesday evening at 8 p.m in the parochial house.
Adoration every Monday from 1 p.m. till 7.20 p.m. with Mass at 7.30 p.m. Adoration then continues after Mass till 9 p.m.
Our Lady’s Island Pilgrimage takes place from August 13 to September 8 Daily Masses at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m.
COMMUNITY GAMES
This coming Saturday and Sunday, August 19 and 20th, a number of children representing the local Community Games Movement will head off to Abbotstown, Co. Dublin, for the national finals. We wish them all the very best of luck.
Competing for the area will be Jack Forde and Euan McLaughlin, Crossabeg, who will be competing in the High Jump and Discus respectively. Eabha Bowe from Castlebridge will compete in the under-10 Art competition and the Curracloe under-12 Group Music team of Laura Canning, Seán Moran, Rian Ormonde and Ellie Roche.

Results of play at Kyle Forge on Wednesday night of last week. Winners were Annette Robinson, Mary Morrissey, Betty Shanahan, Breda O’Brien, Stella Noln, Molly Murphy, John Meagher, Maura White and Joan Pierce.
WEDDING BELLS
Congratulations and best wishes for the future to Caroline Creane, on the occasion of her marriage to Mr Patrick Madigan, which took place in Crossabeg church on Thursday of last week.
SEWAGE TREATMENT
Proposal/planning permission is being sought for a sewage treatment plant at the old County Councildump/recycling depot at the Deeps, Crossabeg. Objections must be lodged by Friday of this week, August 18.
People living within the area between N11 and River Slaney from Ferrycarrig to Ballinaslaney are invited to register their objections by Friday on the basis of pollution, odour, traffic, tractors/ slurry tanks and lorries delivering same to the site; unsuitability of the site due to nearness to the river Slaney, leakages, contamination of river and air etc.
