‘To be honest I’m in shock... I did better than I expected’

Even though Bradley Hogan has started his apprentice­ship in carpentry, he was still very happy with his results.

Principal Fionnuala Greene said they experience­d small problems at first with the new system, but the students seemed very happy leaving with their brown envelopes.

‘I wish them all the best for the future,’ said Mrs Greene. AT Selskar College Principal Eimear Ryan found it to be a stressful morning at first with the new grading system in place, but they got through it and she is really happy with how the students did.

‘Everyone did really well, and I am delighted with how well they did in higher level maths too,’ said Mrs Ryan.

Selskar College student Luras Zilionis was really happy he passed everything he needed to in order for him to go to WIT to study constructi­on.

Aaron Foley has decided to take a year out to figure out which career path he would like to take, but was delighted with all of his results.

‘I did better than what I thought, so I am delighted. I want to be a youth worker, which I will do a course in Selskar before moving onto a college,’ said Kelley Lynch.

Hospitalit­y management in WIT is on the cards for Amy Casey, who was really happy with how her results went as she passed everything.

‘To be honest I am in shock because I did better than what I was expecting. Hopefully I get to do social care in WIT,’ said Bronagh Firman.

There was great positivity over in the Presentati­on School when the students ripped open their envelopes, only to be greeted with brilliant results.

Aine Ennis, who will now go on to study nursing in UCC, was in shock as she did very well in her exams, and ‘could not be happier’.

‘I am just thrilled, I wasn’t expecting that. I did really well. Hopefully I will go on now to do hospitalit­y management in WIT,’ said Katie Clarke.

It was a big relief for Rachel Brady who was very anxious waiting on her results, but the outcome was great as she did very well, and hopes to do primary teaching.

Katie Connick did better than what she thought and would like to study arts in UCD, while Kira Whelan has already secured her place in Gorey School of Art but is still thrilled with her overall result.

‘I am delighted that I did well in my leaving certificat­e exam. Just have to wait now to see if I have got my place in Dundalk to study veterinary nursing,’ said Rebecca O’Leary.

The boys of Wexford CBS, Coláiste Éamonn Rís were ecstatic when they received their results as most of them did exceptiona­lly well, which they were not expecting.

‘I am absolutely delighted with what I got, because I actually did better than what I thought. Hopefully now it is enough to do engineerin­g in UL,’ said Eoghan Mahon.

Abd Ullah has received enough points so he can go on to study medicine in Trinity College, Dublin, while Marco Fleck is hoping he got enough to study internatio­nal business in DCU.

Wexford CBS student Brian Sweetman was on top of the world, as he will now go on to study maths in Galway so be can become a teacher.

‘I actually got a lot more points than what I was expecting, so I am thrilled with that. I want to study business in DIT,’ said Enda Doyle.

Vincenzo Vito Favia is on his way to do electronic engineerin­g in WIT after receiving high marks in his exams, while Ian Kelly was really happy he passed everything as he would like to do either a TEFL course or something in social care.

Principal of Wexford CBS Mick McMahon said: ‘I am really happy for the boys, they all exceeded our expectatio­ns. I just want to wish them the best of luck for the future. Also, I would like to thank the parents for supporting the school throughout the years.’
