Giddy up for Our Lady of Fatima school
CHILDREN and adults from all over the South East trekked their horses, carts and bikes across Cullenstown Beach, raising €3,026 in the process for Our Lady of Fatima Special School, Wexford.
Despite the miserable weather, people still turned up in droves bringing their horses, horse and carts and even bicycles just so they could take part.
Everyone met at the Railway Yard Gallops and Ballyfrory Stud where they left at 10 a.m. and made their way to the beach. Several people were waiting to cheer the participants on.
When they returned from their trek refreshments were provided including some baked goods, which were kindly donated by people who did not do the trek on the day.
Martina Doran, from Railway Yard Gallops, said: ‘I have a very strong team at the stables who all pulled together to organise this event. We had an amazing day. I’d like to thank everyone that helped, donated and showed their support.’
Railway Yard Gallops have a service called Equine Connection, where they provide equine assisted therapy and learning for children and adults with special needs.
Martina said entertainment following the trek was provided by Sid Scallan. Bouncy Castles were donated by Richard Brophy from Belgrove Bouncing Castles which was great fun for the children.
‘I would also like to thank the local businesses who kindly donated to the auction and raffle,’ said Martina.
