GYMSTARS ENROLMENT

Enrolment evening in Gymstars Gymnastics Club, Knockeen, Barntown will take place on Tuesday, August 29, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Come along and enrol your child into one of the top Gymnastic Clubs in Ireland. We run a wide range of classes to suit the beginner to the advanced from age 3years upwards. Classes resume on week beginning Monday, September 4. ROUNDERS

Following the recent win by the Glynn-Barntown Ladies Senior Rounders team, who have earned themselves a place in the all-Ireland Final, It is hoped to organise a Bus to the final, which is due to be held on August 27 in Abbotstown. CAMOGIE CLUB NEWS

20 YEAR CELEBRATIO­N – The G/B camogie club 20 Year celebratio­ns will take place on Saturday, August 26, in Glynn-Barntown GAA pitch from 11 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. and YOU are invited. Highlights will include inflatable pitch, mini games, DJ, barbecue, facepainti­ng, balloon release, tea and cakes and much more. Donations of cakes on the day from 10 a.m. would be much appreciate­d.

After the senior hurling game in Bellefield at 3.30 p.m. we reconvene from 5.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. for the adult camogie mini league with guest managers from bygone years. Later please join us in the clubhouse from 8.30 p.m. for 90s hits, finger food, nostalgia slideshow and happy hour. All welcome.

ALL IRELAND FINAL – Wishing club girl Emma Dempsey and the Wexford under-16 camogie team the very best of luck as they play the all-Ireland final next Sunday v Galway.

Well done to Ciara Butler, who was placed second in the National under-14 long puck final at the Community Games over the weekend. Well done also to club girls Jane Duggan and Ciara Laffan, who also competed in the national finals over the weekend.

COISTE NA NÓG

Our under-6s played some great hurling v Faythe Harriers in their friendly games on Saturday morning while our under-eights were busy on the pitch beside them taking on near neighbours Cloughbawn.

Our under-14 Rising Stars footballer­s lost out by a narrow margin to St Anne’s during the week.

Our under-14 hurlers had a great win over Oulart-The Ballagh on Saturday morning in Killurin.

Hard luck to our under-16 hurlers defeated by Crossabeg-Ballymurn in Thursday evening.

Our Minor hurlers lost out to Naomh Éanna Gorey on Tuesday evening by two points in championsh­ip in Killurin.

Well done to Cian Carthy, who made the final eight in the National Community Games under-14 long puck final over the weekend.

SENIOR GAA

Well done to our senior footballer­s who snagged another two vital points with a win over Shelmalier­s in Taghmon on Friday evening. 1-12 to 1-010.

Our Junior footballer­s were unfortunat­ely defeated by Castletown on Saturday evening 2-11 to 1-12.

LADIES FOOTBALL

Our under-12 Green ladies’ football team have made it to the County Finals. All roads now lead to Wexford Park on Sunday, September 3. Well done girls.

Our under-12 Blue ladies’ football team were unlucky in their semi-final play off against Davidstown-Courtnacud­dy though the girls kept battling till the final whistle. Well done girls we are so proud of you all.

It wasn’t to be their day on Saturday but what a season it has been for the under-14 ladies’ football team. It’s no mean feat to finish as the second best under-14 team in the county after an excellent campaign. These girls have wowed us all season with their work ethic, friendship­s, zest for fun and their amazing results in the top division in football.

Thanks to everyone who stood behind the team this year. To Michael, Barry, Philip and Conor the dedicated coaches who gave the girls such great encouragem­ent as well as great training. To Allison, who was always there as the second Mammy whenever needed and to everyone who contribute­d in any way to the success of this team.

Hard luck to the junior team who lost out to Crossabeg-Ballymurn on Saturday afternoon in their shield final.

SUPERVISED STUDY

Wexford Local Developmen­t in partnershi­p with Taghmon Action Group are running supervised study sessions for secondary school students.

Commencing on Monday, September 4, to October 27 inclusive (8 weeks). Student study facilities will be available from Monday to Thursday from 5.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. There will be a very small weekly charge to cover the cost of heat and light.
