Big reaction to Leonard’s Little Free Library idea
WEXFORD’S first ‘Little Free Library’ is up and running in The Bullring Market.
The idea of the Little Free Library is to create a book exchange, so if you take a book, you put a different book in its place. A book that you have read, and loved.
Leonard Kelly, who came up with the idea, said he wanted to thank ‘the guys from the Wexford Working Mens Club for building it, Olivia O’Dwyer for painting it, and Brian Walsh for installing it’.
‘I established this with a wish to promote a love of reading, and aid in building and strengthening a sense of community, by encouraging neighbourhood book exchanges,’ he said.
Leonard said the reaction so far to the Wexford Little Free Library idea has been amazing
Wexford Working Mens Club are building the Libraries, local artists have come on board to paint them, and he has the assistance of local builder Brian in installing them. Wexford Lions Club have offered to assist in the stocking of them as required.
Leonard said it was a great example of people working together to make that little positive change in their community. Everything is being done on a voluntary basis, no fee, no charge.
He said he was looking for a graphic designer interested in designing an original logo and a nameplate for the libraries, he would be interested in hearing from from.
Leonard said he would like to hear from communities who might be interested in getting a Little Free Library, and has two more almost ready for new homes.
