Frayne’s fine year continues in final

-

THE WEATHER was kind thankfully on Thursday night for the annual Pettitt’s gala night that attracted a huge crowd as always to Enniscorthy Dog Track.

There was a great buzz with families enjoying a night at the dogs, and there was some great racing to enjoy with some very good times recorded.

The feature was of course the Pettitt’s A3/4 final of €1,200, and the very good year for Wexford town owner Brendan Frayne continued as his Honest Suckle, who came right back to top form in her semi the previous week, produced another top run as she led the field a merry dance to score a very convincing win in a fast 28.77.

The Tagalong Roy A1/2 final was won in identical time as another wide seed, Rocky Dee Rocket, owned by Dean O’Leary, also put on the after-burners when leading and running on strongly to hold the fast finish of Tycoon Rita by a length in 28.77.

The Philip Tierney-owned Bugatti Petite put up a very good performance in race three, the sprint, when recording a fast 18.84 for a clearcut win.

The Helen Toft-owned Cosy Messi was another to record a fast time when taking race seven over the 575 trip, powering past favourite Piercestown Molly to score by two and a half lengths in a very quick 31.28.

The Ocean Food Unraced Stake final was somewhat of an anti-climax, but not for the clearcut winner as Forest Bee got to the lead early and came home a clear eight lengths ahead in a good 28.92 for Kildare owner Paddy Kehoe.
