GAA CLUB NOTES
The ladies’ football club presents the Two Johnnies live in Tír na nÓg, Wellingtonbridge, followed by DJ Kieran Furlong on Saturday, September 23. Starting at 9 p.m. till late, finger food on the night. Tickets are €15 each, and are flying out, and can be purchased from Geelans Waddingtown, Costcutter’s Wellingtonbridge, Tír na nÓg or contact 085 7396614.
Lotto numbers were 8, 12, 19 and 25. Only one lucky winner of a match-three numbers, congratulations to Pauline Wickham, Duncormick. Next jackpot will be €12,200.
The junior football team had a one point win over Taghmon which sees them in a semi-final game this weekend against Horeswood.
The intermediate squad drew with St Joseph’s in Taghmon. They take on Ballyhogue in their next round.

HARVEST FESTIVAL
You are invited to join us to help launch the advertising campaign for the Duncormick Harvest Festival on Thursday, August 31, at 7 p.m. by the River Muck in Duncormick. Members of the press will be there to capture some photos for the local papers. There will be refreshments for all and some novel entertainment.
SEISIUN
Danescastle Music Group will host Seisiun in Horse and Hound, Ballinaboola this Tuesday evenings at 8.30 last one this year. An evening of traditional music, song and dance. Come and enjoy a great evening’s entertainment for all the family.
SOCIAL DANCING
dancing continues in Tír na nÓg every Thursday night from 9.30 p.m. with music this Thursday, August 31, by Dick and Ted. All are welcome – refreshments served.
AFTER SCHOOL CARE
Teach na nÓg will be offering an Afterschool Facility from August 31. This will be open from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. daily. This will be funded under the Community Childcare Subvention (CCS) Scheme, which enables parents who have a medical card or are in receipt of a social welfare payment, to avail of the service at a reduced rate. Philomena, Jacintha and Martin (Irish Heart Foundation Trained Community Walking Leaders) are delighted to be starting into their fifth year of Strolling.

We start back on Monday, September 4. We will meet at Rathangan Hall at 7 p.m. (The Community Walkway in Rathangan offers a very safe/ steady place to walk.) The new Stroller should walk approx 15/20 minutes depending on fitness and the Striders will walk for approx 35-45 mins. Tea and coffee afterwards and a chat.

SAD PASSING
Deepest sympathy to Maeve Barry and family and Linda Cooney and family on the death of their mother Margaret Whelan last week. Funeral Mass was 12noin on Wednesday in Mulrankin church with burial afterwards in Ballymore cemetery. May she rest in peace.
DEATH
Deepest sympathy to the family of Sadie Murphy née Ffrench Johnstown Duncormick, who passed away last week. Sadie is survived by her daughter Catherine and sons Fr David and Garrett relatives and friends. Sadie’s remains were brought to Rathangan church on Friday for 11 a.m. Mass with burial afterwards in Leighlinbridge cemetery Carlow with her husband Daniel, who predeceased her. May she rest in peace.

STUDY CENTRE
The Study Centre at Wellingtonbridge will re-open on September 11 continuing Monday to Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. It will also open on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
There are a limited number of places and priority will go to third, fifth and sixth year students. NOVENA SUCCESS
The Tomhaggard pastoral group would like to thank everyone that attended or contributed in anyway to the recent novena to St Anne. The group would like to also thank everyone that supported, attended or helped out in any way with the field day and fringe events. The total raised during the nine days was €3420.80. These funds go towards the ongoing improvements to the church, cemetery and grotto.
GARDEN OPEN DAY
The Tomhaggard Pastoral Group would like to express their appreciation to Paula Hore, Mount Eaton, who held an open day at her residence on August 6 the event raised €1,080. These funds go towards the ongoing improvements to the church in Tomhaggard.
KILMORE PARISH JOURNAL
The AGM of Kilmore Parish Journal will take place on Wednesday, August 30, at 8 p.m. in the Kilmore GAA clubrooms. Preparations for publishing the 2017 Journal have begun. SCOUTS
Congratulations to Scout Team Aslan, who achieved a Silver Standard at the all-Ireland Scoutcraft competition in Belfast last weekend. It was a tremendous achievement for such a young team. Scouts will resume early Sept. We cater for boys and girls – Beavers 6-8, Cubs 9-11, Scouts 12-15, Ventures 15-18. There are places in all sectors except Cubs (Waiting list). CRAFTY SEWCIALISING
Do you own a Sewing machine but don’t know how to use it? Then you need sewing classes for complete beginners. 5K FUN RUN AND WALK
A 5k Fun Run and Walk takes place at Tomhaggard social centre on Sunday, September 3, at 11 a.m. It is a great family day out and is suitable for runners, joggers, walkers, Children’s bicycles, dogs (on lead), buggies etc. Plenty of spot prizes, food and refreshments served. SOCIAL CENTRE AGM
The Tomhaggard Social Centre AGM was held on Wednesday, August 23. The committee extended Good health wishes to Fr Denis for continued speedy recovery. They also thanked Brian Furlong for his sterling work as TUS employee over the last year and welcome Kevin Scallan, who took up his position on August 14. Votes of thanks were expressed to Fintan Murphy and Eleanor Devereux, who have stepped down from the committee after nine years of service. New Officers elected chairperson Nick Hayes, Vice-Chair Mairead Devereux, secretary Breda Hayes, treasurers Angela Byrne and Mary Boggan, Committee Con Doyle Paddy McGuire, Peter Kehoe, Pauline Doyle, Carol Gray, Fr Jim Doyle.
