SCOUT GROUP

REGISTRATI­ON FOR NEXT SCOUTING YEAR – This will be held at 7.30 p.m. on August 31, in the Scout and Guide Hall. Registrati­on cost is €45 per boy includes insurance cover for each person. Advising all parents wishing to register in any of the sections, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Venturers to come along on this night, once maximum ratio number in each section is reached, a waiting list will be establishe­d, so to ensure you child can avail of a place in any section come along on this evening please.

FUND RAISING EVENT - The group have organised a fundraisin­g event on 7/September 8/9,2017 selling lines in local Supermarke­t and need parents and leaders to cover times from 10 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. on the three days please. Please contact group secretary Ann Rochford 087 6677411 with any times you have available to cover on any day and the Cover List can be updated. Ann will have the list also on the registrati­on night to collect names. this can be a big fundraisin­g event but all hours need to be manned at the entrance for times above. thank you all for your support and co-operation.

Cubs and Scouts will re-open on Tuesday, September 5, and Beavers on Thursday, September 7. Weekly subscripti­ons for running of the group is €3 per week.

ARA CLUB NEWS

The club will re-open on Tuesday, September 12, at 2.30 p.m. till 4.30 p.m. New members welcome. Registrati­on 20.00 annual fee. Looking forward to another year of activities and day trips and away trips. All members ‘bring a friend this year’. See you all on the 12th. Meetings are held in St Martin’s Community Centre, Piercestow­n. Hall on Tuesday, September 5, 7.30 p.m. for their forthcomin­g production of ‘SISTER ACT’ which will be staged in Rathangan Hall from February 14 to February 17, 2018, inclusive. Why not come along on the night to meet our Director and also to find out more about the show. Audition material will be available on the night.

This is a really lively, funny show and both Men and Women are needed for this production. AUDITIONS will be held in Rathangan Hall from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 16, and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, September 17. Follow us on Facebook for ongoing updates. YOGA CLASSES

HARVEST FESTIVAL

You are invited to join us to help launch our advertisin­g campaign on Thursday, August 31, at 7 p.m. by the River Muck in Duncormick. Members of the press will be there to capture some photos for the local papers. There will be refreshmen­ts for all and some novel entertainm­ent.

FESTIVAL VOLUNTEERS

In advance of the Harvest Festival Volunteers are needed to do the following: Setting Up, Putting up Tents, Moving Furniture, Hanging Artwork, Safety Signs, Hang Bunting and on the Harvest Festival day volunteers are needed for the Tea Tent, Parking, Jam Stand, Toilets, Bins and Gates. MURANKIN FUNDRAISER

Following his very successful cabaret last year, the community of Mulrankin are delighted to announce that Michael English and his band will be returning to Clayton Whites hotel this year on Thursday, November 30, in concert with special guest Brendan Shine. Tickets cost €22.50 and it promises to be another great night if last year is anything to go by.

We’re very lucky to be part of Michaels concert tour this year, he’s starting in the Olympia on October 11 and finishing with us in Wexford on November 30, all his concert tour dates will be advertised nationwide in the national papers and also through his own website so demand is going to be high. CRAFTY SEWCIALISI­NG

Do you own a Sewing machine but don’t know how to use it? Then you need sewing classes for complete beginners. 5K FUN RUN AND WALK

A 5k Fun Run and Walk takes place at Tomhaggard social centre on Sunday, September 3, at 11 a.m. It is a great family day out and is suitable for runners, joggers, walkers, Children’s bicycles, dogs (on lead), buggies etc. Plenty of spot prizes, food and refreshmen­ts served. INFORMATIO­N PROCESSING

It’s that time of year again, time to think of updating your Informatio­n Technology Skills. IT’S NOT TOO LATE. There are a limited number of places left on our PLC course in Informatio­n Processing. We have revised our course to offer candidates the most up-todate, relevant modules for work, or further education, in the area of Business/Informatio­n Technology. JOHNSTOWN CASTLE

An invitation is extended to keen gardeners from all over Wexford to compete in this year’s Gardening Show. The show will be held in the Agricultur­al Museum (Johnstown Castle) on September 9 and 10.

Any Flowers, Fruit, and Vegetables can be entered as well as homemade Preserves, Jams, Pot Plants, and Floral arranging, there are special sections for children. New category Best Scarecrow. This is a show all the family can take part in. For full details contact Jimmy 087 7653924.

PLAYSCHOOL

Cleariesto­wn playschool will reopen on Wednesday, August 30, at 9.30 a.m. Please note this is the day before the National school but in line with the ECCE Calender. Enrolments will take place on the morning. Children will not need to bring any snack with them as this will be provided. TRX/PILATES CLASSES
