FORMER CHAIRMAN SEAN WINS CAR IN MODEL DRAW
A FORMER Wexford GAA chairman is in the driving seat of a brand new Skoda after his name was first out of the hat in the Model County Draw.
There were great celebrations at Donohoe’s Skoda as Sean Quirke of Oylegate arrived to collect his new Skoda Fabia which he won in the popular draw.
This is the 25th year of the draw, a vital fundraiser for the development and provision of facilities for Wexford GAA.
Over the years, money raised through the draw has gone towards the reconstruction and refurbishment of Wexford Park, the development of the GAA Centre of Excellence in Ferns as well as floodlighting and gym facilities.
Clubs affiliated to Cumann Luthcleas Loch Garman have also benefitted by around €5 million over the 25 years of the draw which they have in turn invested in the development of their individual clubs.
Every year, the draw gets massive support from Wexford GAA clubs and supporters throughout Wexford and indeed the rest of the country and this year’s draw had a total prize fund of around € 80,000.
There were three draws overall with a total of 50 prizes monthly. First prize each month was a car to the value of €15,000, additional prizes were vouchers for businesses based throughout the county and cash prizes .
Sean, a longtime GAA official, is looking forward to hitting the roads of County Wexford in his new wheels.
Other major winners included Willie Tector who bought his ticket from Horeswood GAA and won a Ford Fiesta from Bolands Ford Wexford and Paul Doyle who purchased a lucky ticket from Ferns St Aidans and drove off in a Peugeot 208 from Trinity Motors Wexford.
Organisers of the draw have thanked everyone who purchased a ticket for their support.
